It can pay dividends to shy away from the rain-softened turf and side with a trio of horses at Lingfield on Tuesday...

The opening race on the card looked set to be fought out between Mutual Regard and Langham Lily but, with the first mentioned being a non-runner, this looks an excellent opportunity for Langham Lily to get off the mark at the fifth time of asking. The three-year-old didn't show a great deal in three maidens but took a step forward when just denied at Wolverhampton on handicap debut, finishing well but not quite able to reel in eventual winner Kathleensluckylad. The Chris Wall yard have been in fine form of late, hitting the mark with 27% of their runners this month, and Langham Lily looks more than capable of further enhancing that strike rate here.

The Ian Williams-trained Boudoir looks to have plenty going for her at the weights in the seller at 16:00 and is taken to gain a third career win. The three-year-old was formerly trained by Richard Hannon but moved to her current yard following her best run yet, when third in a handicap over C&D in July, and although she hasn't quite returned to that level of form in three subsequent starts, it is most difficult to discount her in a field where so many of her rivals have questions to answer.

The following contest at Lingfield sees out third and final SmartPlay, Ginger Ted, take to the track over six furlongs. The five-year-old caught the eye in no uncertain terms on his most recent start, which represented his all-weather debut, at Wolverhampton last Friday, travelling well and making good progress but by no means being knocked about and doing just the bare minimum to gain second place. Ginger Ted is usually held-up in his races, a tactic which could prove wise as there are several viable pace options in the line-up, and he looks set to strike having fallen to a tempting mark of 64 with his last win, in June of last year, being gained from a mark of 85.
