Timeform Radio Tips: Rhombus to bust some shapes at Haydock

Richard Hoiles is hopeful of hitting the mark at Haydock on Friday...

Sticking with the devil you know today with a great card for watching at Cheltenham but preferring to go to Haydock for a couple of bets.

The first is Rhombus in the 13:55 against the short priced favourite Esteaming. In terms of pedigree the increase in trip and softer ground should both suit and having seen him look very edgy in the paddock on his debut then the gelding operation since his last run may also help settle him down. He may turn out to be a handicap project but given the number of reasons to expect improvement he is worth chancing at the prices.

The second is to lay Dr Phibes in the 16:10 in-running. His string of second places looked no coincidence with him trading less than 1.152/13 on three occasions and getting beaten. Last time he picked off a rival that had gone too hard and hence did not have his resolution tested but it is likely it will be here. Lay him in-running with personal preference being for two lays at 2.265/4 and 1.3130/100.
