Home and Away: Leeds look a cracking bet at Hillsborough

Owls boss Dave Jones is a man under pressure

Denmark and England are the destinations for Jonno Turner's Home and Away bets today, and he believes Leeds United are a cracking price to win tonight's Yorkshire derby...

We're off to Denmark for our penultimate pick of the week, and FC Nordsjaelland host struggling Silkeborg, with the home side looking to get their campaign on track following two consecutive losses.

Kasper Hjulmand's side have secured some impressive results in recent weeks - but that hard work threatens being undone following the Wild Tigers 4-0 loss to Chelsea in the Champions League a week or so ago, and a subsequent defeat upon their return to domestic action against OB last week.

The hosts will be desperate to get back on track here, especially with a key European fixture against Juventus just around the corner, and a home win is necessary in order to ensure that they don't slip from fourth place in the Superliga.

Just one loss from 13 on their own patch suggests that Hjulmand's charges certainly have the ability to arrest that slump, and thy could make it three clean sheets from five at Farum Park this evening.

Visitors Silkeborg currently sit 10th in the division - just one point outside the relegation zone.

Boss Keld Bordinggaard might be feeling the pressure of that poor from following a fifth placed finish last time out, and it is clear that his side need to start picking up points if they are to steer away to safety.

But just one win in their last five away from the Silkeborg Stadion indicates that the visitors do have a tendency to struggle with travel sickness - and that could cost them in North Zealand here.

A 5-0 thrashing by Kobenhavn in their last encounter on the road will have knocked confidence in the guests camp, and, in the bigger picture, that makes 12 goals conceded in five away from home.

Bordinggaard will be under no illusions that shipping goals in that way will see his side languishing at the wrong end of the table - but it remains to be seen whether his rocky defence can cope with the attacking prowess of their hosts here.

Bet 1: FC Nordsjaelland (HOME) @ 1.594/7

Back to more familiar climes now, and it's a Yorkshire derby - as Leeds United travel to Sheffield Wednesday aiming to maintain their recent unbeaten run.

Neil Warnock's side have found some cracking form in recent weeks, and go into this game with four wins and a draw from their last five.

And three without a loss from their last four away from Elland Road indicates that Warnock has this United side well capable of grinding out a result on their travels.

That good run of form has fired Leeds up to seventh place in the Championship - just five points off top spot - and a win here could put the Whites right in the mix at this early stage of the season.

Sheffield Wednesday have endured a nightmare few weeks, and have slipped into the relegation places following catastrophic run of results.

The Owls have not tasted victory in eight games - and have lost seven of those - in what boss Dave Jones has described as 'his worst ever period in management'.

Hillsborough supremo Milan Mandaric has given Jones the dreaded vote of confidence, but even he would accept that, after years of struggle, the Owls can seldom afford to drop down into the third tier once again.

Wednesday have lost their last three on their own patch - conceding half a dozen goals - and correcting those defensive weaknesses will be top of Jones' to do list as he looks to lift confidence in South Yorkshire.

But he would not have chosen a visit from one of the form sides in the division - and local rivals - at this point, and another loss here could see the pressure on Jones turned up a notch.

The last time these two sides met at Hillsborough, Leeds ran out 1-0 winners - and I think that we could see another away win here, at cracking odds.

Bet 2: Leeds United (AWAY) @ 3.185/40
