Tipperary hosts Monday's Irish action
With both chases abandoned it is a trio of hurdles selections from Tipperary which make up Monday's Irish SmartPlays.
First up is Kilcrea in the opening 14:05 maiden hurdle. The son of Definite Article won all of his completed starts in points in 2011 and finished a promising fifth of 14 to Ludo Et Emergo in a maiden hurdle at Gowran on his Rules debut, left with a lot to do. He subsequently showed useful form in bumpers, winning well in that discipline in February, and despite shouldering a penalty today he remains open to improvement and makes plenty of appeal on his return to action.
An hour later on the card and Marlos Moment looks worth a play in the 15:05 handicap hurdle. Despite being a maiden over jumps he has nevertheless been a consistent performer for both Mark McNiff and Jim Culloty, and his efforts on the Flat this summer have shown a marked improvement - one which isn't necessarily reflected in his handicap mark returned to timber today. As such, it would be no surprise to see his winning turn occur and at morning prices he looks worth supporting.
Finally, Whisky Galore can go one better than on several of his recent efforts and take the 15:35 handicap hurdle. Not seen to best effect in a messy race at Hexham earlier in the month, the son of Kyllachy will have no problems with the step back up in trip this afternoon and can gain a deserved win in what look on paper to be a weak event.
