Matt Kuchar has been exceptional this week, Westwood has been dreadful and that equals a bet
Europe are four points behind the US and are surely headed for Ryder Cup defeat unless they pull off one of the great comebacks. It's not going to happen, says Paul Krihsnamurty, who has run through all of today's singles matches at Medinah
Bubba Watson v Luke Donald
Europe may need a miracle to overturn an eight point deficit, but in picking their strongest match players in the opening groups, it is easy to imagine them building essential early momentum. Of this pair, Bubba has enjoyed a much better tournament but Donald is probably the best in the world at this format.

Webb Simpson v Ian Poulter
Victory here would lift Poulter's tournament points percentage to a remarkable 80% and secure the top scorer award for the third consecutive Ryder Cup. With five birdies to finish, nobody ended last night in hotter form, although in fairness, it is equally impossible to unpick Webb Simpson's impeccable debut. This essential point will be far from straightforward for Europe but Poulter's peerless record in matchplay singles, (he has also won both versions of the World Matchplay), is too good to ignore.

Keegan Bradley v Rory McIlroy
Never mind the strokeplay hierarchy, Bradley simply doesn't deserve to be outsider for this match. Whereas he barely played a bad hole in three successful matches, Rory has struggled to make a birdie all week. Poulter's heroics dragged him over the line in last night's fourballs, with Rory looking like he's running out of gas after an amazing month.

Phil Mickelson v Justin Rose
Mickelson has enjoyed by far his best ever Ryder Cup and, with an adoring crowd cheering his every move, can complete a 100% record. It's been a long, hard week for Rose, which started with a poor performance from the front in the Tour Championship and after playing all four rounds at Medinah, he could be running on empty.

Brandt Snedeker v Paul Lawrie
Incredibly there hasn't been one halved match this week, so I'm going to try a trading plan on the tie in each singles match where its hard to form a strong opinion. Both of these have good matchplay records and the right style of play for this format, so a close game is expected. The plan - backing the tie at 7.413/2, then placing a lay order for double the stake at 3.02/1 - paid off in five out of eight matches yesterday.

Dustin Johnson v Nicolas Colsaerts
Colsaerts has been a rare bright spot in a dismal week for Europeans and the Belgian is fancied to gain a deserved second point in this battle of the massive hitters. As the reigning world matchplay champion, Colsaerts has a much better record in matchplay singles than Johnson, who has repeatedly struggled in the annual WGC-Accenture event.

Back Nicolas Colsaerts 2u @ 2.447/5
Zach Johnson v Graeme McDowell
This is another tricky puzzle where the tie may represent the best trading value. Gmac has really struggled at Medinah but such is his matchplay pedigree and never-say-die spirit, he seems likelier than most Europeans to fight until the bitter end this evening.

Jim Furyk v Sergio Garcia
This hasn't been Sergio's best Ryder Cup by a long way, so there's no reason to expect any improvement on a poor singles record. Just as he's never done anything of note at the World Matchplay, Garcia has lost four out of five singles in this competition. In stark contrast, Furyk tends to save his best for this format, winning 64% of his points in seven Ryder Cup appearances.

Jason Dufner v Peter Hanson
Peter Hanson must be disappointed to have played only one match so far and that lack of competitive preparation, (he played only two thirds of a round in a massive fourballs defeat), is a significant disadvantage. While the Swede has been watching from the sidelines, Dufner has starred on his debut, holing plenty of putts and rates a confident selection.

Matt Kuchar v Lee Westwood
Today's nap involves taking on a badly out of form Westwood. Despite a magnificent tournament record, Lee has only won twice in seven singles matches and can never have approached one in worse form or spirits. He owes a solitary fourballs point almost entirely to Colsaerts' performance and has barely holed a putt all week. Kuchar on the other hand has been outstanding.
Recommended Bet
Back Matt Kuchar 5u @ 2.111/10
Steve Stricker v Martin Kaymer
By the time this match reaches the back-nine, the chances are that USA will have regained the trophy and the crowd will be in party mood. This will not be an easy experience for any European - let alone one like Kaymer, who was struggling going into this tournament and flunked his sole fourballs opportunity.
Recommended Bet
Back Steve Stricker 4u @ 2.01/1
Tiger Woods v Francesco Molinari
Molinari has yet to win a full Ryder Cup point in five matches, but the Italian is standout value here. Had Tiger Woods been playing singles over the past two days, he'd have been effectively beaten by the turn. No way can his erratic form over the past week at both East Lake and Medinah warrant a bet at odds-on.
