NFL Tipping Sheet: Handicap bets for every game

Abelson Info preview all this weekend's NFL action

It's week seven in the NFL already and there's some juicy games on offer. The guys at Abelson Info have briefly previewed all the weekend's fixtures including their recommended bets...

Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday 18:00
John Skelton will return for the Arizona Cardinals after Kolb was hit one too many times last week, it's no fun being a Cardinal quarterback this year, the offensive line is not up to scratch and it's a matter of time before the sacks they allow turn into QB injuries. Skelton may have a sharper arm than Kolb but he is less elusive and Jared Allen an co. will be licking their lips. Vikings quarterback Ponder is maturing game by game and Peterson is doing the business again. Home win for Minnesota.
Recommended Bet: Minnesota - 6.5

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans
Sunday 18:00
After their storming start to the season the Texans were delivered a reality check by the Packers last weekend when they got ruined by Rodgers. That may help them in the long run as they try and firm up their secondary but the loss of Cushing at linebacker can't be overstated. They do still have all the weapons on offence though and host a Ravens team that has lost it's talismanic figurehead, Ray Lewis has torn a tricep and will be absent for the foreseeable future. His presence is easily as important as his performance and he will be missed, as will Lardarius Webb. The good news for Ravens fans is they may see the return of Terrell Suggs to the Defensive Line. The NFL is about injuries this year it seems. These are both top teams but the Texans should shake off last weeks result and push to 6-1.
Recommended Bet: Houston - 6.5

Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday 18:00
It was pleasing to see the Browns get a big win over a decent Bengals side last week and end their awful loosing run. They have real stars of the future in rookies quarterback Brandon Weeden and running back Trent Richardson and will only improve with time. This week they travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts who will look to react from a beat down by the Jets last time out. The key to the Colts performance is all down to another rookie; Andrew Luck was the number one pick in the draft and has shown flashes of real brilliance in his first few games, like when he led his team to a late win over the Packers in week 5. At other times he has looked understandably inexperienced and raw but this should be a game that he can shine in. Mathis returns to the Colts defence which has already looked very impressive against the pass. The Brown may find it tough in Indy.
Recommended Bet: Indianapolis - 3

Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday 18:00
It's all got really ugly for Carolina fans this year, they much preferred rookie Cam Newton to Sophomore Cam Newton, his form has nosedived. He can still run but they have DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart who can run, it's his passing they need back. Quite rightly they will stick by him and eventually he will come out of his slump and start finding receivers like Steve Smith. The Panthers should be good but they need a result to ignite their season. Maybe after a bye week their fortunes will change. Dallas fans are worrying, at 2-3 they sit bottom of the NFC East. Romo has put up big yardage but is susceptible to being picked but the running game looks good even if DeMarco Murray sits out on Sunday.
Recommended Bet: Carolina + 2.5

Green Bay Packers @ St Louis Rams
Sunday 18:00
It's a bad time to have to play the Packers, everybody knew how good they really were and how good Rodgers really was before last weeks big win over the unbeaten Texans but now they have kick started their season it's likely that the Pack will go on a run of wins. Away to the Rams will be a tough test for Rodgers though, their secondary doesn't have many holes and he is still having to do without his preferred go-to-guy Greg Jennings. The Rams fans will try and create a hostile reception and Sam Bradford will try and put some points on the board but the Packers should still have enough.
Recommended Bet: Green Bay - 5.5

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday 18:00
Should be a lot of End zone action in this one. The Saints got their season up and running with their first win in week 5 and after a bye they should be fresh and hungry. Drew Brees has the class to find targets against any defence and Tampa will miss Aqil Talib at cornerback. Tampa are developing well and totally dominated the Chiefs last week at the Raymond James Stadium. The NFC South will be won by the Falcons this year so these two will be hunting down a wildcard spot and this contest could crucial.
Recommended Bet: New Orleans - 3

Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday 18:00
Expect to see a lot of yards made on the ground in this one. If Tennessee are going to have a successful season then they need to get Chris Johnson rolling, he has the potential to be one of the best backs in the game but he has started this campaign slowly. This week he faces a Buffalo D Line that is better than it's current ranking and is boosted by the return of Shawne Merriman, he should help plug some gaps. The Bills running game is already producing and their development has been impressive this year.
Recommended Bet: Buffalo - 3

Washington Redskins @ NY Giants
Sunday 18:00
Fascinating game from the NFC east as the Giants travel to Washington to take on the Redskins. RG3 has started even better than expected. There's nothing more exciting than a quarterback that can really run. In the eighties it was Randall Cunningham, in the nineties it was Kordell Stewart, in the noughties it was Michael Vick and now it's RG3, last week he broke a 76 yarder for a TD as he burnt the Vikings late on. The Giants will be wary but they have a pass rush that will be thirsty for sacks. The Big Blue is a well oiled machine and last week's convincing win over the niners showed they mean business once again this year.
Recommended Bet: New York - 5.5

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday 21:25
Only one win each so far for these two but whereas the Jaguars seem to be getting worse the Raiders are improving. There's no doubt Carson Palmer is missing protection but he should get enough time to exploit the Jags weak defence, if not then he can always hand off to McFadden. The Jaguars are will rely on the talents of Maurice Jones Drew but he's not going to win games on his own. The Raiders should get a convincing home win.
Recommended Bet: Oakland - 4.5

NY Jets @ New England Patriots
Sunday 21:25
Huge grudge match from the AFC East with both teams sitting at 3-3. The Jets smashed the Colts last week but will have to up their game again if they are to get a win in Foxborough. Without some of their key men due to injury the Jets might not have enough. Brady is leading the best offence in the league this year and despite last week's close loss in Seattle the Patriots know that they are real championship contenders. Look for Mr. Reliable Wes Welker to continue his great season, that drop is forgiven and he's still the number one target.
Recommended Bet: New England - 4.5

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals
Monday 01:20
The late game sees two teams desperate to improve after disappointing losses last time out. It's sad to see the Steelers in decline, s lot of their key men are feeling their age and the offence looks tired. This week they will have to do without either of their top two running backs and Roethlisberger will have to be on top form to give them a chance. The Bengals have lost two soft games in a row despite the lethal combination of Dalton to Green. They should have enough firepower to get passed their divisional rivals in the AFC North
Recommended Bet: Cincinnati - 3

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
Tuesday 01:30
Tasty game for Monday Night Football as the Lion take on the Bears at Soldier Field. The Bears have started well and their swarming defence won't give the Lions an inch on the ground but that's no big deal for Mathew Stafford and the Lions, they never run it anyway. Doesn't matter how good the coverage is on Megatron, if Stafford finds his man the Lions won't be stopped. The Bears are sitting pretty at the top of the division but if they are to hold of the Packers then these are the kind of games they need to win.
Recommended Bet: Detroit +6.5
