MLB Tipping Sheet: Yankees to inch ahead of Baltimore

Peter is backing NY to take the lead...
Peter Dolan selects the best bets and explains why he's backing St Louis and the New York Yankees to take the lead in their play-off series...
St Louis Cardinals @ Washington Nationals, 18:07 ESPN America
(Series tied 1-1)
The reigning World Series champions blew-out the Washington Nationals 12-4 on Monday night to tie the series at 1-1. Tonight, they send Chris Carpenter to the mound. Due to injury, Carpenter made only three regular season starts, going 0-2 with a 3.71 ERA, but he does have a 9-2 career post-season record, going 4-0 last year including game seven against Texas.
The Nationals start former Cardinal Edwin Jackson tonight. He went 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA in the regular season, and has a 1-1 4.97 ERA career postseason record. I think St. Louis might take this one, with the bats of Carlos Beltran and David Freese crucial once again.
Baltimore Orioles @ NY Yankees, 12:37am Thursday morning, ESPN America
(Series tied at 1-1)
After Monday night's 3-2 win to even the series 1-1, Miguel Gonzalez and the Baltimore Orioles travel to the Big Apple to take on Hideki Kuroda and the New York Yankees. Gonzalez was 9-4 with a 3.25 ERA over the season, compared to Kuroda's 16-11, 3.32 ERA. Both pitchers had pretty good seasons and both come into this game in good form, so the bats are going to make a difference tonight. It's hard to look past the Bronx Bombers at Yankee Stadium, and I expect the pinstripes to take a 2-1 series lead.
Recommended Bets
Back St Louis Cardinals at 2.0621/20
Back New York Yankees at 1.68/13
