Leicester Placepot: Tuesday October 9

Today's Placepot comes from Leicester
James Muir brings you a suggested Placepot permutation from this afternoon's meeting at Leicester...
14:10 - Roanne looked badly in need of the experience at Haydock and is sure to improve now upped in trip, but it is difficult not to fancy Nickels And Dimes, who represents the all-powerful combination of William Buick and John Gosden in the opening fillies' maiden. She is a half-sister to smart seven-furlong performer Kalahari Gold and may be capable of striking here on debut. Mark Johnston, who won the race last year with a debutant, saddles the unraced Alta Lilea, a filly by Galileo. She could be the biggest danger.
14:40 - A tricky fillies' handicap, which three-year-olds have an excellent record in and they have a strong hand again this year. Aubrietia is effective over five and six furlongs and struck up a hat-trick earlier in the year so would have a shout if returning to that form. The ground is softer than ideal, however, and it may pay to side with a less exposed runner. Ralph Beckett's Finesse won with more in hand than the winning margin implied at Ffos Las last time and she is open to further improvement. If So is another seemingly on the up and has improved greatly since being fitted with a hood. She appears to be well treated on her return to handicap company and holds obvious claims.
15:10 - Priestley's Reward is stepping down in class and in trip, but it isn't often that John Gosden has a representative in Selling company so Arctic Galaxy is most eye-catching. Gosden's charge is only a modest maiden but had excuses on his latest start at Wolverhampton, finding himself short of room on two occasions. He has been freshened up since then and may finally find some improvement dropped into this company.
15:40 - Ennistown was an impressive winner of a maiden at Haydock on heavy ground in September so will not be inconvenienced by any cut in the ground today. He looked a difficult ride in his two previous maidens, but won with plenty in hand last time, having travelled strongly. It isn't difficult to make a case for the other two runners, but there is a lot to like about the Godolphin colt and hhe goes in the 'pot' as a banker.
16:10 - The fact that a number of runners appear to still be improving makes this an intriguing handicap. Canary Wharf certainly fits that bill, having won on his sole start for Marco Botti in January, but has an absence to overcome, whilst Burnham, although still improving, may not necessarily be suited by the drop in trip, so the horse to side with could beRequire. She has to shoulder top weight, but acts on this type of ground and can be forgiven a below-par effort in a tougher race last time. We will rely on Luca Cumani's runner to see us through to the final leg.
16:40 - The final leg looks like an open affair and we will keep a few runners onside. Basingstoke showed plenty of promise on his racecourse debut at Newbury in May, keeping on nicely under a hands-and-heels ride. Panzanella hasn't been seen since last November, but ran encouragingly when fifth on debut and, representing top connections, she must go on the shortlist. Finally, Last Fighter wasn't subjected to a hard race on debut and can show the benefit of that experience here.
