Kempton Placepot: Thursday October 11

Kempton Park.

James Muir heads to Kempton confident of hitting Placepot success...

17:20 - Tropics made a most encouraging start here last month, travelling as well as any for a long way before finding the highly promising Net Whizz too good. The step down in trip should not be a concern as there is plenty of speed in his pedigree and he can go close again. Far East is entitled to do better with her respectable Lingfield debut under her belt (a running on second), especially now upped to seven furlongs.

17:50 - Favourite Ferjaan has plenty going for him in the second leg. He has the benefit of experience and wasn't disgraced when second over C&D earlier this month. That was the colt's first run in well over three months, yet he still shaped well in what looked a decent maiden for the all-weather. The form of his previous maiden at Salisbury has worked out well and he could help continue John Gosden's fine run of form.

18:30 - An intriguing maiden in which several hold claims, not least Mark Johnston's Fraserburgh, who finished just a neck behind the highly tried Morawij at Haydock earlier in the season. He was turned over at odds-on last time at Hamilton, but was returning from an absence and travelled well during the race. Meanwhile, Blessing Box made a respectable racecourse debut at Sandown last month despite being short of room two furlongs from home. She was given a mostly hands-and-heels ride and finished with running and it is likely that she will be suited by the extra furlong.

18:50 - The consistent Moonlit Dancer steps up to a mile and judging by the way she has finished over seven furlongs on her last three starts, could be worth chancing. Consenting to run on towards the finish, she was a long way behind the winner (who was seemingly rejuvenated by first-time blinkers) of her latest race at Wolverhampton, but was, in turn, clear of the third. At the weights, she is no forlorn hope.

19:20 - Luhaif is well ahead of these on weights thanks to a third place finish in the Vintage Stakes at Goodowood in August, but isn't guaranteed to see out the mile just yet. Perhaps Beedee could be the one to see us through to the final leg. Richard Hannon's colt won easily over course and distance last month and was giving weight away when just failing in a nursery at Epsom last time. The track didn't suit him that day and he should run well back on a more conventional track.

19:50 - The final leg is a competitive class two handicap with a fair prize fund of 10000 so it has, unsurprisingly, attracted a good field. We will keep a few runners onside and top weight Oasis Dancer should give a good account. He struck up a good run on the all-weather last winter and the return to seven furlongs will suit him. Burj Alzain is yet to finish out of the first three in Britain and has a good course record to his name. He travelled smoothly and was staying on well at the finish over a furlong shorter last time at Dundalk, so will appreciate the return to this trip. Finally, Triple Charm is useful on the polytrack and will have the services of Ryan Moore.
