Gordon Elliott: The thoughts on my GB and Ireland runners today

Will Gordon have a winner at Prestbury Park today?

Gordon has four runners in Cheltenham and one in Dundalk. He seems quite sweet on the chances of one of his chasers at Prestbury Park. Get his exclusive comments here.

14:45 Cheltenham - Carlito Brigante

This is a very competitive little race and it might take a bit of winning but he's in good form and we were delighted with his run at Perth last month. He was just caught on the line there but the ground went against him on the day and the run should have brought him on nicely.

Davy Russell takes the mount and he'll probably sit just off the pace early. I expect the ground will ride just on the soft side of good - possibly good to yielding - so that should be okay and we're putting cheekpieces on him to sharpen him up a little. As I said, it's a tough race but we've always thought a lot of him and he has definite each-way claims.

15:20 Cheltenham - Atlanta Falcon

He won a point to point, two bumpers and maiden hurdle last year but he's had a lot of problems and this is his first run for more than a year. He's been back in work for a while now and has been going well at home but he'll probably come on a little for the run.

It's a very competitive race to be starting him back in but the ground and trip should suit. He'll be ridden from mid-division and see how the race pans out, but how he fares will give us a good idea where to go next with him. Fingers crossed, I think he could go well.

17:05 Cheltenham - Romanesco

He won over hurdles at Perth last time out and I think he has improved again since that run. This is his first run over fences for us but he has plenty of chasing experience.

It's an amateur riders' race and Jamie Codd, who rode a winner for us earlier in the week, takes the ride. As it's a three-mile race, he'll be dropped out in the early stages and Jamie will hope to sneak him into contention late. Like all the racing here today, it looks very competitive but I do think he has a very good chance.

17:40 Cheltenham - Vapiano

This is his first run of the season but he gained a nice bit of experience over hurdles last year and we were hoping he might sneak into a handicap here. The ground being on the good side should be in his favour and he carries bottom weight but it's another really tough-looking race. Kielan Woods - a promising young rider attached to Charlie Longsdon's stable - rides him and although it's not ideal to be running from 5lbs out of the handicap, he could run a nice race.

20:30 Dundalk - Formal Bid

He has been disappointing over hurdles this season but we've been struggling to get his preferred good ground and hence the reason we're going to Dundalk with him. He could probably do with a bit further than 10 and a half furlongs but two of his three wins to date have come at this track and he clearly likes the place. He has been in good form at home and Luke Dempsey takes 10lbs off, which is a big help. There's a big field and he may need a little luck in running but he has an each-way chance.
