Flower Bowl Invitational: Nahrain wins in America

Nahrain won on a star-studded Belmont card
Roger Varian is keen on another crack at the Breeders' Cup with Nahrain after the filly won the Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park...
Unraced at two, Nahrain won her first four races last season, including the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp.
She narrowly lost her unbeaten record in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and the Newmarket handler is keen to set the record straight.
Ridden confidently by John Velazquez, Nahrain beat Zagora by half a length with Dream Peace, formerly trained in France, third and David Simcock's I'm A Dreamer and Hayley Turner in fourth.
"She showed us in her last start when she was third at the Curragh that she was coming back to herself," Varian told www.bloodhorse.com.
"It was her first race this year where she finished strongly to the line and showed she was on her way back.
"We're in (the Breeders' Cup) now, aren't we? We were second last year. From when she was second last year we were keen to have another toot at it this year. She's shown up today, hasn't she?"
The Flower Bowl is part of the Breeders' Cup "Win And You're In" series.
O'Brien's Treasure Beach finished second in the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes to the favourite Point Of Entry.
The TVG Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational Stakes was won in good style by Game On Dude, ridden for the first time by Rafael Bejarano, who replaced Chantal Sutherland in the saddle.
