Pearl Street makes his debut at Kempton today
Martin Dixon is the Timeform Radio man on tipping duty today and below you can read his three selections on a wet and cold day...
There are only four runners in Leicester's opener (14:30), so don't be hoping for fancy prices, but Kimberella is an odds-on chance in my book and looks worth backing. He has some strong maiden form, was a big eye-catcher in a nursery on his penultimate start and, crucially, the heavy rainfall has come at Leicester. His best form has come in the mud and there's a doubt in my mind as to whether second-favourite Bravo Youmzain will handle the conditions.
Again there are no prizes for originality, but Clumber Place looks to me like she's ready to win again, and conditions will spot on for her in Leicester's 17:30. She's also partnered by one of the better jockey's on show in this apprentice race.
I'll throw in a third selection and it's an usual one for me. I rarely back newcomers but Pearl Street really catches my eye in Kempton's 15:50. Henry Candy's newcomers over the last month have all been sharp (he's had four make their debut and all have been placed - at odds of 20/1, 14/1, 11/1 and 4/1) and Pearl Street's pedigree is a big positive as well (half-sister to very impressive 2010 debut winner Peter Martins). I'm also happy to oppose Godolphin's odds-on favourite in the race, whose form hasn't really worked out.
Recommended Bets
Back Kimberella @ 2.56/4 Leicester 14:30
Back Clumber Place @ 3.052/1 Leicester 17:30
Back Pearl Street @ 9.08/1 Kempton 15:50
