Godolphin could enjoy a successful day at Kempton
Tony McFadden brings you a Placepot permutation from this afternoon's meeting at Kempton.
14:20 - Mahmood Al Zarooni saddles a trio of interesting juveniles in this opening contest and, with only seven runners declared, it may prove wise to include at least two of them. Raven's Tower arguably boats the strongest form, having improved dramatically on his debut effort to finish sixth at Haydock. He looked by no means the finished article on that occasion and he remains open to further progress. The other Godolphin horse we will keep on our side is the Frankie Dettori-ridden Lord Provost. The once-raced colt shaped as if having ability on debut and he is capable of producing an improved performance with the benefit of that experience behind him.
14:50 - Ormindo sets the clear standard by virtue of his recent second-placed effort at Wolverhampton. He was only narrowly denied on that occasion and looks to be more than capable of making amends in a contest such as this. We will bank on him to see us through to the third leg.
15:20 - It is once again to Godolphin we turn, but this time we will rely on a horse trained by Saaed Bin Suroor. Mar Mar's recent second-placed effort at Salisbury was a significant improvement on the level of form that she had shown on debut, and it is arguably the strongest piece of form on offer. She by no means sets an insurmountable standard, but she remains open to plenty of progress and should be involved in the finish.
15:50 - Bred to be smart, Intiba shaped encouragingly on debut, travelling strongly and responding well to pressure to finish second at Salisbury. The form of that effort looks comfortably good enough to secure a maiden victory and she will be our sole selection in leg four.
16:20 - A return to the all-weather is likely to play into the hands of Intransigent, but his unlucky second at Ascot last time will ensure that he carries an inordinate amount of units and, with only two places on offer, we will take him on in hope of as result. It is hard to knock Dark Castle's record on polytrack and he seems to be gradually progressing on the surface. He arrives here at the top of his game, having produced a career-best effort here last week, and is likely to make a bold bid. Poole Harbour has faced some stiff tasks of late and may well find this an easier proposition, so we will also include him in the perm.
16:50 - Tiger Cliff is entitled to respect on his handicap debut, having made such a positive impression when winning here last month, but, understandably, he still looked inexperienced and it may prove wise to take him on with a couple of more clued-up rivals. Nordic Quest isn't exactly exposed, having raced only five times, and he shaped with a great deal of promise on his return from a five-month absence when finishing second here recently. He looked relatively straightforward on that occasion and he should be capable of building on that effort. Ruscello shaped better than the bare result in one of the strongest handicaps run all season at Ascot last time, effectively losing all chance early on after a slow start. He had won prior to that and it is worth giving him another chance.
