Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Bed can prove too Hot to handle at the Curragh

There are two Group 1 contests on an eight-race card at the Curragh today.
All eyes will be on Camelot's triple crown bid at Doncaster today but there is also some top-class action at the Curragh and we have picked out three more SmartPlays on that card....
Andrew Oliver is enjoying a cracking season with his juveniles, with Sendmylovetorose and First Cornerstone having already scored in Group company this year, and he can land another big prize courtesy of Uleavemebreathless in the Flame of Tara Stakes at 15:30. This daughter of Tiger Hill was a shade unlucky not to beat Snow Queen on debut here last month but made no mistake in a similar event at Roscommon just over a week later. This doesn't look a particularly strong race for the grade and there is more to come from Uleavemebreathless.
Hot Bed, representing the bang in-form David Wachman yard, looks the one they all have to beat in the Glanbia handicap at 16:00. A maiden winner at Dundalk last year, Hot Bed has been placed on both of his starts this year, including when just touched off by the improving Stuccodor at Killarney last time. That was Hot Bed's first run since April so there may well be more to come from him, he remains on a fair mark and few of the others have any secrets from the handicapper.
If Starspangledbanner was back to his best then he would surely only have to turn up to win the Renaissance Stakes at 16:30. However, it would take a big leap of faith to back him following his lacklustre return to action here last month and Firebeam looks a very solid alternative. Firebeam finished in front of Maarek when the pair met in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury in July and wasn't beaten all that far by Chachamaidee in the Lennox Stakes last time. He remains unexposed at sprint trips and the booking of Pat Smullen looks significant.
