Come and see Nathaniel and others at Newmarket's Open Day
Ryan Moore tells us why we must go to the Betfair-sponsored Newmarket Open Day on Sunday to see such stars like Nathaniel on the gallops, and many other human and equine stars...
I hope that some of you can make it to the Betfair-sponsored Newmarket Open Day on Sunday; it is good to see us finally opening our doors to the public, as the other racing communities do.
Go to www.newmarketopenday.co.uk for all the information you need.
I am not sure what my plans are at the moment as regards my return-to-fitness regime on Sunday - I could be having more kriotherapy sessions at Champneys and physiotherapy, so may not be around - but hopefully I will be in attendance at some point.
I can assure you though that, come 4pm, I will be settling down in front of the TV to watch Arsenal take on Man City. I felt so sad for them against Real on Tuesday night, and I hope I will feel likewise around about 6pm on Sunday.
But the participating stables - which includes the boss's and other high-profile yards such as those of Luca Cumani, Jeremy Noseda, Michael Bell, Marco Botti, Ed Dunlop and James Fanshawe - all open their doors at 9:30am (to 12:30pm), so there should be plenty of time for the football-lovers to enjoy themselves beforehand.
And, while Sir Henry Cecil and Frankel are not accessible for obvious reasons, there will clearly be no shortage of equine stars on show at the above yards and I see there is a gallops morning on Warren Hill featuring the likes of Nathaniel, too.
And there are a lot of fun events on the Rowley Mile racecourse in the afternoon, so something for all the family, as they say.
At 15, with children under 12 being admitted free, it looks a fun day out - and all in a good cause with the proceeds going to Racing Welfare, New Astley Club and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Get along if you can.
