MLB Tipping Sheet: Washington to get the better of Malwaukee

Jordan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals

Richard Fletcher is on MLB tipping duty today and here you can read his three best bets...

Milwaukee Brewers @ Washington Nationals - 18:05 BST

Still with a real shout of making the final NL Wild Card slot, the 79-73 Brewers beat the 92-60 Nationals last night 6-2 in the later innings to lead this series 2-1. Marco Estrada (4-6, 3.56 ERA) starts for the Brewers, he's won four of his last five decisions and went for seven scorelesss innings against the Pirates with four strike-outs on his last outing. Washington's Jordan Zimmerman (11-8, 2.96 ERA) picked up a win against the Dodgers last time, going six innings whilst allowing just one earned run. With at least a Wild Card slot locked-up, expect the Nationals to go for the jugular here.

Oakland Athletics @ Texas Rangers - 01:05 BST

Both of these teams are still heavily involved in the mad scramble for the American League playoffs, and the 90-62 Rangers hold a four game advantage over the 86-66 A's in the West. Righty Dan Straily (2-1, ERA 4.13) has been inconsistent in his first season, though the A's have won four of his five career starts. The Rangers' Derek Holland (11-6, 4.42 ERA) has lost only two decisions since his enforced month-long lay-off in June, and picked up the win against the Angels last time, allowing just two earned runs in seven innings. The Rangers, the league's biggest hitters, should win by at least two runs tonight.

New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins - 01:10 BST

The 88-64 Yankees lead the AL East by just one win over the Orioles, and after last night's 5-4 defeat to Oakland, the Yankees head to Minnesota with the pressure firmly on. The veteran lefty Andy Pettitte (4-3, 2.97 ERA) is the starter, and he made a winning comeback from an extended spell on the DL five days ago against the Blue Jays, going five scoreless innings in the process. Liam Hendriks (1-7, 5.88 ERA) recorded his first career win in eighteen starts against Cleveland last week, allowing two earned runs in six innings pitched. The Yankees -1.5 runs has to be the selection here.
