League Two Weekend Previews: Unbeaten Torquay to surprise Millers

Ian Lamont takes a look at this weekend's League Two fixtures and picks out his best bets for you to consider...
Fleetwood 1.845/6 v Northampton 3.814/5; The Draw 4.77/2
Fleetwood have taken a little time to find their feet after stepping into the Football League, which must have been particularly daunting after losing their two top strikers who got them there. But Jon Parkin's hat-trick at Morecambe shows the experienced league striker has settled in. Opta statistics remind us that Fleetwood have conceded fewest goals this season (two) and scored four in each of their last two games - and that Northampton have not won in seven trips on the road. Time to believe in the hype surrounding Micky Mellon's men, at least for now. Northampton's Jake Robinson says he wants to prove he is better than last season, but he has never really produced consistently. Fleetwood were second favourites for the title going into this season, but have nudged to the top, with shortest-priced Rotherham yet to win away from home. The hosts should win.

The "march to the title" party is not going as the Millers would have expected. Boss Steve Evans starts a six-game ban, courtesy of an indiscretion at Bradford while Crawley manager last season. Chairman Tony Stewart says his absence will make little difference. This is the first test for a club with a trigger-happy chairman, high expectations and dubbed big spending. They recruited plentifully in the summer. Daniel Nardielo has not played a lot of football for his 29 years, but scored plenty at Exeter, while Kayode Odejayi, 30, should also score goals. Their recruitments are typical of Evans' abilities to pluck unheralded or out-of-favour players and mould them into a team. A 6-2 reverse at Northampton wasn't in the plan and was a large one for an Evans side.
At the price, Rotherham make little appeal against a Torquay side unbeaten this season, who won the last time they went away to face Rotherham, albeit at the soulless Don Valley not the New York. Martin Ling has urged to scorer Rene Howe to keep his cool after three bookings - to equal his goal tally - this season. The value lies in laying the hosts.

Dagenham & Redbridge 2.47/5 v Accrington Stanley 3.1511/5; The Draw 3.45n/a
I've a sneaking feeling that Accrington can break a trend Opta points out - that Dagenham are unbeaten in their last three home games against Stanley. John Still's men have yet to win in this campaign, while Accrington have made their best start to a season (10 points from five games) since returning to a Football League in 2006-07. Could the visitors - with a clean sheet in both of their away games this season - pick up a rare hat-trick of away wins? Boss Paul Cook remains bullish about their ambitions this season - telling those who will listen their aim is the title. An unchanged back five has given them a solid foundation, with Padraig Amond scoring in three of his last four appearances coupled with facing winless hosts making them overpriced.

Aldershot Town 2.35/4 v Morecambe 3.3512/5, The Draw3.412/5
Shrimps manager Jim Bentley says the team must not dwell on their derby hammering to Fleetwood, but their season has been dealt a blow with a long-term injury to striker Danny Carlton. They have been doing better away this season (two victories, clean sheets and six goals) than at home (one point), while Aldershot have yet to get a point at home and have four away.
So Aldershot will draw succour from Opta stats showing they have won their last three home games against Morecambe. Guy Madjo had been frustrated at bench-warming at Aldershot and is now on loan at Plymouth. Dean Holdsworth did not feel he was performing and needed him sharper. Replacing him is Crystal Palace loanee Kwesi Appiah, 22, who has "fire in his belly", said the Shots boss. Appiah played for Margate until January. A jump like that is huge. Here, he has the chance to add to Aldershot's great record against their opponents and kick-start the hosts' season.
