The Pipes love nothing more than a winner at Newton Abbot
Today's Follow the Money comes from the meetings at Folkestone, Newton Abbot and Dundalk...
The 7f Maiden Stakes at 14:30 around Folkestone includes this morning's market negative. Roger Varian's two year old colt Hazzaat has drifted from 3.3512/5 out to 4.94/1. After an uninspired debut around Yarmouth he ran green again at Brighton last time out suggesting that his temperament may need more time before he can challenge for race wins. Andrea Atzeni has been drafted in to take the mount for the first time but this competitive maiden may well prove another race to soon for this horse and the negative move on the exchange seem to agree.
David Pipe trained Shoegazer has been well supported in the 15:40 at Newton Abbot with a move from 7.25n/a in to 5.24/1 on the exchange this morning. This ssven year old has three wins from four completed races and performed well last time out around this course before falling two fences out. A drop down in trip to 2m5f seems sensible and if his jumping holds up then he is well suited to perform well. The heavy ground is also in his favour and this morning's support suggests big things are expected this afternoon.
Our last selection is Rawnaq in the 17:50 at Dundalk. Backed in to 3.613/5 from 4.84/1 this positive move on the exchange suggests that this five year old gelding will continue his fine form in this 2m Handicap even though he has no prior experience on an All-Weather course. A recent hurdle winner at Bellewstown where he looked on fine form and with Dundalk specialist jockey Declan McDonagh booked for the mount connections must be feeling confident of a win this evening.
