Europa League Betting: Buried treasure to be found in the goal markets

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has rested key players in the Europa League
Kevin Hatchard previews four of Thursday evening's Europa League games, and believes there's value in the goal markets of all four encounters.
Maritimo vs Newcastle, Thu 18:00 BST, Live on ESPN
Match Odds: Maritimo 2.427/5, Newcastle 3.412/5, the draw 3.39/4
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew chose to play a weakened side in both legs of the playoff round against Greek side Atromitos, and that gamble just about paid off, as the Magpies squeaked through 2-1 on aggregate. With an important Premier League fixture at home to Norwich on the horizon, I would expect Pardew to shuffle his pack once again.
Maritimo have made a solid start to the season - they are yet to taste defeat in seven matches, and they have kept five clean sheets. While the Portuguese side's defence is performing superbly, their attacking stats are far from stellar. The Madeirans have scored more than once in just one of their games, and at home they've scored just two goals in four matches.
Considering Maritimo's offensive limitations and defensive strength, I would certainly back Under 2.5 Goals at 1.728/11, and I also like the look of No in the Both Teams To Score market at 2.01/1.
Recommended Bets: Back Under 2.5 Goals at 1.728/11
Back No in the Both Teams to Score market at 2.01/1
AEL Limassol vs Borussia Monchengladbach, Thu 18:00 BST
Match Odds: AEL 3.45n/a Gladbach 2.35/4, the draw 3.412/5
After securing a 2-1 home win over Anderlecht in the Champions League qualifiers, AEL Limassol have every reason to think they can cause another upset against Borussia Monchengladbach, who have made a patchy start to the season.
The value here could be in the goal markets, as Over 2.5 Goals appears overpriced at 2.466/4. AEL have won both of their league matches 3-1, and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in four matches overall. Four of Borussia's six matches this term have featured Over 2.5 Goals, and the Foals have kept just one clean sheet, with the loss of star defender Dante to Bayern Munich keenly felt.
Recommended Bet: Back Over 2.5 Goals at 2.466/4
FC Twente vs Hannover 96, Thu 20:05 BST
Match Odds: Twente 2.26/5, Hannover 3.55/2, the draw 3.55/2
If you want to be entertained, Hannover are the team to watch. Mirko Slomka's men have played eight matches this season in all competitions, and those games have featured an average of 4.9 goals. Hannover have scored 30 goals already, conceding nine.
Steve McClaren's FC Twente are no slouches in the goalscoring department either. They put six goals past Willem II in the Eredivisie at the weekend, and they are averaging three goals per game. Five of Twente's last seven games have featured Over 2.5 Goals.
With both teams scoring so freely, Over 2.5 Goals looks good at 1.845/6, and if you feel brave Over 3.5 Goals is trading at 3.02/1.
Recommended Bet: Back Over 2.5 Goals at 1.845/6
Athletic Bilbao vs Hapoel Kiryat Shmona, Thu 20:05 BST
Match Odds: Athletic 1.282/7 Hapoel 13.012/1, the draw 6.86/1
Athletic have scored at least three goals in five of their eight matches this season, and in the final qualifying round they crushed HJK Helsinki 6-0 at San Mames. After missing out on the summer move he so desperately wanted, Fernando Llorente's back in the Athletic attack, and he scored on his return to the team in the weekend's 3-3 draw at Espanyol. In Llorente's absence Aritz Aduriz has picked up the slack, scoring five goals in five games.
Hapoel have shown little sign of being able to withstand an Athletic bombardment - they have kept just two clean sheets this season, and have lost their last two games.
Recommended Bet: Back Athletic to score at least three goals at 2.13n/a
