AZ's manager could have to console more of his players this afternoon
AZ Alkmaar travel to Breda in the top tier of Dutch football this afternoon and they are expected to bring home the three points. It's just one win in six on the road for them though and Paul Robinson thinks they're worth taking on.
Breda have made a poor start to their campaign and they are down in 17th place with just two points from their opening five. John Karelse's side have only managed three goals and conceded 10, however if they can get a win today, they could move up as high as 13th.
They have played twice at the Rat Verlegh Stadion so far this year and while they've only picked up a single point, the performances haven't been too bad. Breda narrowly lost to current leaders, Twente, and then held Utrecht to a draw last time out, leading 1-0 till late in the game.
AZ Alkmaar have a made a steady start to their season; winning two, drawing two and losing one of their five. Gertjan Verbeek's men have faced tough fixtures having already played Ajax and PSV, but if they win today, they will shoot up the table.
The Cheese Farmers have an iffy away record in recent times though; going back to last year it's no win in six on the road and just two in the last 13. The corresponding fixture in 2011 finished 2-1 to Breda and AZ haven't won there in three.
AZ Alkmaar are a superior outfit than Breda, but they shouldn't be this short away from home against them. Therefore at around the 1.794/5 mark I have to make AZ my lay of the day.
