Our final two SmartPlays run at WolverhamptonTimeform bring you three suggested SmartPlays on Friday...
The 15:05 at York sees the first of today's SmartPlays take to the track, with Able Master appealing as a decent bet. The six-year-old made all to win at Ayr in June and went in again at Musselburgh in August, with both wins coming at seven furlongs. He has finished runner-up on his last two starts, staying on well over that trip, and he looks well worth a try at today's distance of a mile judged on that evidence. Green Howard would have been a fearsome rival but, with that one a non-runner, we can feel confident in our selection.
English Summer (19:45 Wolverhampton) is now rated considerably lower than when he was at the peak of his powers, but he has been shaping well of late and looked slightly unfortunate last time, finishing second having been disadvantaged by the run of the race. Running off the same mark here, English Summer looks to have a fine chance of going one better and atoning for that defeat, particularly as likely favourite Shabak Hom has been withdrawn.
Gabrial The Boss showed improved form when chasing home Progenitor over C&D just under a week ago, and the suspicion is that he may prove capable of better still. The two-year-old was well backed on his first two starts in nurseries without reward, but his effort in the aforementioned affair caught the eye as he shaped better than the bare form would suggest, racing wide into the straight and sticking on well. A repeat of that, or an improvement upon it, would pitch him in with a mighty chance here.
