Timeform Radio Racing Tips: Get the day off to a Flyer with Danehill

Timeform Radio's Stephen Molyneux is on tipping duty today and he's gone to Ayr for both this afternoon's selections...

The ground will obviously be very testing at Ayr today but one horse who should relish the emphasis firmly being on stamina is Danehill Flyer in the opening nursery at 14:10, scheduled now to go off at 14:40 due to the abandonment of a later race.

Danehill Flyer hails from a small yard that continue in fine form and he could look a handicap snip off a mark of 63 based on his third run when not beaten far by Bachotheque at Carlisle, crucially on soft ground. He stepped up to this trip at Redcar for his nursery debut last time but found things happening too quickly for him on a firmer surface and he is fully expected to put that behind him here, a drop of 3 lb qualifying him for this lesser race and he makes plenty of appeal at 6.25/1.

Lord Franklin looks a solid favourite in the 16:10 and should be supported accordingly at 4.67/2. Eric Alston probably hasn't had the greatest of seasons but two of his last five runners have ended up in the winners enclosure and there is no reason why Lord Franklin can't join them. He goes particularly well on heavy ground, will appreciate the step back up to 7f having got going too late when third at Hamilton last time and remains with potential after just the 8 starts, certainly in comparison to the mottley crew he finds himself up against today.

Elsewhere, Little Garcon is worth keeping an eye on returning from eight months off in the 15:00 at Wolverhampton. He will be having his first start today for the excellent Robert Cowell but judging by the market, he currently trades at 22, he may just need this and stall 11 is certainly no help. Simply because of that I won't be recommending him as a bet but he could be one that does well on the all-weather this winter and I will be watching his performance today with interest.
