Timeform Daily: Sunday, Kempton 14:45

Kempton is the venue for Sunday's Race of the Day.

Timeform look ahead to an interesting beginners' chase at Kempton on Sunday...

Akula was a fairly useful handicap hurdler, winning at Wetherby (2m) in December. Close up when falling fifth on chase bow at Huntingdon recently and no easy task in this more competitive affair.

Arbeo was a dual bumper winner who didn't go on as expected over hurdles and up against it now going chasing on return from 6 months off.

Aussie Man And Van is bred to make a chaser, but well held when falling 4 out on chase debut at Fontwell (2m) in April.

Drumshambo was better than ever when winning a sizeable 17f handicap hurdle at Taunton in December. One or 2 creditable efforts afterwards, but lot more required now going chasing on reappearance.

Grams And Ounces progressed well over hurdles last season, winning 3 times. Close third prior to unseating 2 out behind a couple of useful prospects over fences on recent return and big player if building on that.

My Brother Sylvest rattled up a hat-trick over hurdles at this time last year. Lost his way afterwards and hopes rest on chasing rekindling enthusiasm on return from a 10-month lay-off.

Polisky was tongue tied when opening hurdling account at Wincanton (2m) in March. Similar form starting out over fences when third at Uttoxeter in July and remains open to improvement in this sphere.

Rebel High was a Point winner who seemed to match hurdles form when third on chase bow at Towcester recently, but modest stuff all the same and surprising if he got involved in this much stronger contest.

Sire de Grugy was a Grade 2 hurdles winner who scaled greater heights when landing a 17f Taunton handicap in February. Real chasing type who looks a potentially smart recruit to this sphere.

Theodore Lamb improved over hurdles in the spring, winning a 19f Market Rasen handicap in March. Promising start over fences when third at Stratford in June, but this altogether more demanding.

Faha matched form shown in a bumper on debut when getting off the mark over hurdles at Worcester (2m) in May, but this looks an extremely tough starting point over fences.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Sire de Grugy
2. Grams And Ounces
3. Polisky

Timeform Verdict: Grams And Ounces was in the process of bustling up a couple of useful chasing prospects prior to unseating 2 out at Newton Abbot recently and is likely to fare best of those with experience, but Sire de Grugy was superior to all of these over hurdles and looks an exciting recruit to the chasing ranks. Polisky looks best of the remainder.
