The X Factor Result: Controversy as Poole is sunk

Mike Norman brings us the first X Factor elimination result, and not surprisingly, the result didn't go down too well...
Well that didn't take long did it? After weeks of 'best mate' pleasantries at auditions and boot camp, the X Factor judges are at loggerheads already after Carolynne Poole became the first person to be eliminated from this year's competition.
Matched at a high of 22.021/1 in the First Elimination market, Poole - a member of the Over 28s category - was one of the least-fancied performers to be eliminated but after the public voted she found herself in the bottom two with Rylan Clark, who is easily the worst singer in the competition.
Poole performed brilliantly in the sing-off whilst Clark was his usual self; rubbish! But that's where the fun began.
Mentors Gary Barlow (Poole) and Nicole Scherzinger (Clark) decided to save their own acts, whilst Tulisa Contostavlos voted correctly, saving the act that she believed performed best in the sing-off... Poole.
But when Louis Walsh had to give his verdict he was torn between saving the best singer or the entertaininer.
After much deliberation he eventually said he would like to save Poole, much to the delight of the gorgeous performer. But presenter Dermot O'Leary insisted that Walsh must nominate the person that he wanted to send home rather than the person he wanted to save, and it was at this point that the long-standing mentor revealed he wanted to send it to deadlock.
And it was Poole who was the loser in that regard, polling the fewest votes of the British public and becoming the first performer to be eliminated.
So just like in previous years with the likes of Jedward, Wagner, Chico, and Johnny Robinson it looks like this year's X Factor will again see a dreadful performer survive many weeks without any justification.
Sixteen year-old sensation Ella Henderson is the red hot favourite to win the competition at 2.186/5, ahead of Jahmene Douglas (7.87/1) and James Arthur (9.89/1)
