Going into the All England, you'd have taken very short odds Boher Paddy putting a field of moderate veterans to the sword. But he is clearly not the force he was and his time in the heats tells us that. Maybe he is crying out for a longer trip, so something might get away from him here. Which greybeard that may be is the question!

Mill Whiskers - 20:35

Has been running well of late, with a couple of decent wins at Sunderland. But he gives the impression that over this sort of trip and the Newcastle gallop a lead is required and the early pace of Shambo Shine inside might deny him, as might the younger Lookoutforflash in terms of an initial advantage.

Bubbly Phoenix - 21:45

Has done nothing wrong up to now, and will have huge support. He has good all-round speed, but will not lead up here as Mags Gamble looks set to blaze one, while Denwill Star on his immediately inside is another real obstacle to Bubbly Phoenix dominating in the first half of the race. And that might be significant.
