Premier League Tips: No respite for QPR at the Hawthorns

Is time running out for Mark Hughes?

There are some tasty looking fixtures in the Premier League this coming weekend and Paul Robinson has taken the time to have an early look ahead to see where the value lies in the fixed odds markets.

West Brom v QPR
Back West Brom @ 1.85 (17/20)
Back James Morrison to score first @ 11.0 (10/1)

West Brom take on QPR in what looks like a banker home win given the two sides' current form.

Steve Clarke has got the Baggies up to sixth place and their success has been down to their strong performances at the Hawthorns. They have played three, won three and conceded nought goals at home this season, which includes wins over both Merseyside clubs.

QPR on the other hand are in dire form and the loss against West Ham at Loftus Road on Monday night means it's just two points from their opening half dozen games for Mark Hughes' men. Rangers look weak at the back; 13 conceded to date, and last year's indiscipline reared its ugly head again against the Hammers as Samba Diakit saw red.

If you are looking for value in other markets, then James Morrison looks a decent bet to be the first name on the score sheet. With rotation amongst the strikers, Morrison has been a regular playing behind the lone forward and the Scot already has one goal to his name so far this campaign.

Wigan v Everton
Back Everton @ 2.0 (1/1)
Back Everton to win 2-0 @ 8.5 (15/2)

Everton have arguably been the most impressive team of the season and it looks likely that they will continue their great start at Wigan on Saturday.

The Toffees have not only been good at Goodison Park so far, they have been decent away, picking up six points from a possible nine, including a decisive win at Swansea last time. Nikica Jelavi returned to the team against Southampton, netting a brace, and the Croatian looks likely to score every time he gets a chance. Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar link wonderfully down the left flank and they should be able to get two on one against Emmerson Boyce.

Wigan have lost all last year's momentum and they find themselves down in 16th place after picking up just one win. At the DW Stadium they have played three, losing two and drawing the other, scoring just three goals. Victor Moses has proved a big loss and with Jordi Gomez suspended, they have even less goal scoring threat on Saturday.

If you're wary about backing teams at short prices away from home, then I wouldn't put you off backing a 2-0 away win in the correct score market at 8.5 (15/2) as I can't see Wigan troubling the Everton defence.

Southampton v Fulham
Back the draw @ 3.25 (9/4)
Back 'Yes' in the Both Teams To Score market @ 1.58 (29/50)

Southampton and Fulham meet on Sunday lunchtime and I can see plenty of goals but the spoils ultimately shared.

The Saints got a much needed win under their belt in their last home match against Aston Villa. They were 1-0 down at half time and Nigel Adkins looked like a man under pressure. A superb second half display saw them run out 4-1 winners and Adkins could sleep a little easier. In truth, their league position doesn't quite do their performances justice and now that they have some easier fixtures on the horizon, I expect they will climb up the league a little bit.

Fulham are strong at home but not so good away, so it's somewhat surprising that they've won at Wigan and lost at home to Manchester City in the last fortnight. Dimitar Berbatov's injury is a blow for Martin Jol, but Mladen Petri is an able deputy and he already has three goals to his name this season.

Goals look to be the order of the day here as both teams are attacking, with Southampton especially weak at the back. Both teams to score looks an absolute certainty at 1.58 (29/50) and is my best bet of the weekend.
