MLB Tipping Sheet: Yankees to continue title charge

Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
The Yankees are still fighting with the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East title, and a sweep of the Red Sox would do it. Joe Girardi trusts David Phelps (4-4, 3.34 ERA) with the ball tonight. Phelps' last two appearances have been out of the bullpen. His last start was a no decision on September 19 against the Toronto Blue Jays, where he conceded just one run over 6.1 innings. He takes on Boston's Jon Lester (9-14, 4.94 ERA) tonight. Lester has lost his last three starts, conceding ten runs over 20 innings. New York's offense is superior to Boston's, and I'm going to have to back the pinstripes tonight.
NY Mets @ Miami Marlins
This NL East division matchup sees the second to last-placed Mets travel to Miami to take on basement club, the Marlins. Knuckleballer R.A Dickey (20-6, 2.69 ERA) got his 20th win of the season in his last start against Miami. Jacob Turner (2-5, 4.94) has lost his last two starts, conceding five earned runs over 11 innings. I expect the Mets to overcome Turner and win tonight.
Atlanta Braves @ Pittsburgh Pirates
The Atlanta Braves have clinched a playoff spot, but last night's defeat ruled them out of the NL East title race, crowning the Washington Nationals division champions. I don't expect the Braves to take their foot off the gas this evening, as I'm sure they would like to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. Tommy Hanson (13-9, 4.38 ERA) starts for Atlanta tonight. He won his last start, conceding just one earned run. In comparison, his opponent, Kevin Correia (11-11, 4.33 ERA) has lost his last two starts, conceding nine earned runs over 10.1 innings. I don't expect his fortune to change yet and I don't fancy the Pirates. Back the Braves.
