Torquay v Yeovil, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: Torquay 2.962/1, Yeovil 2.466/4, The Draw 3.613/5
The second round of the JPT throws up a west country derby here with both teams wrapped in the blanket of mid-table obscurity in their respective leagues at present. However, closer inspection of the Glovers' results shows an alarming slide down the League One table after a promising start was dismantled by a catastrophic run of six straight defeats on the spin. The visitors finally cured the malaise with a life-giving victory over Colchester on Saturday, however the short trip down to Torquay will be a severe test of resolve. The Gulls have only lost one out of six games at Plainmoor this season - to Championship side Leicester - and have beaten their League One visitors in their last two cup encounters at this ground.
Recommended Bet: Back Torquay to beat Yeovil @ 2.962/1
York v Coventry, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: York 2.982/1, Coventry 2.588/5, The Draw 3.55/2
York may have impressed by beating Rotherham on their travels to reach round two though the Minstermen will probably have been wishing for another away tie given their poor form at Bootham Crescent. York have only mustered one win from a possible six home games in League Two and have failed to score in any of their last three in front of their own fans. League One visitors Coventry endured their own torrid run of five straight defeats in the league but since losing away at Arsenal in the Capital One Cup have enjoyed a recovery period; winning two out of their next three, sandwiching a draw in between. The Sky Blues will be in confident mood as they make the trip to Yorkshire.
Recommended Bet: Back Coventry to beat York @ 2.588/5
Walsall v Port Vale, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: Walsall 2.466/4, Port Vale 3.1511/5, The Draw 3.55n/a
Port Vale visit Walsall in spectacular form, winning six out of their last eight games in all competitions and five out of their last seven in League Two which sees the Valiants second in the table. The only loss in that imposing run coming against first placed Gillingham. Micky Adams' side have been away-day magicians in the league too, conjuring up five wins from six away from Vale Park, a scary prospect for Walsall despite their higher league status. Unfortunately for Saddlers fans it's their home form which has proved an obstacle to league success so far - turning up just two wins form six - including successive defeats at the Bescot Stadium preceding this encounter. There could well be a League One toppling in the offing here.
Recommended Bet: Back Port Vale to beat Walsall @ 3.1511/5
