Home and Away: Pompey and Bantams the two to be on

Pompey boss Michael Appleton
Jonno Turner has chosen two Johnstone's Paint Trophy games for today's Home and Away column...
We're off to the south coast for our first pick of the day - and Wycombe travel to Portsmouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, looking to record a second consecutive win following their victory over Torquay United at the weekend.
Caretaker boss Gareth Ainsworth ha sstruggled since taking over the reins at Adams Park, but will be delighted to have lifted some pressure with that win - and will now be eyeing a coup by knocking out higher division opposition in this competition.
But eight losses from the Chairboys last nine on the road suggests that they may struggle in this one - and 10 goals conceded in their last four on their travels will be of particular concern to Ainsworth.
The visiting boss is expected to make some changes for this fixture, and is unlikely to play himself even though he was one of the main catalysts of his sides win at the weekend.
Michael Appleton's side line up at Fratton Park with their long-term future still hanging in the balance, but three without a defeat in League One has at least steadied the ship in terms of their on field performances.
A cracking away win at in-form Yeovil was followed up by a decent draw at MK Dons, and it will please the Pompey boss that his side have been able to show such consistency in the face of adversity.
The hosts are still signing players on one-month rolling contracts due to financial constraints - but that method does seem to be working for them of late, and it's a key factor in a competition like this as it means that they can't play a load of reserves or youngsters (they simply don't have them).
Pompey beat local rivals Bournemouth on penalties in the previous round following a hard fought 2-2 draw in normal time, and it's clear that the home side are taking this competition seriously, which makes them a decent bet at 1.768/11.
Bet 1: Portsmouth (HOME) @ 1.768/11
Staying in this competition for our second tip, as Hartlepool welcome Bradford City to Victoria Park, looking to secure their place in the next round of the competition.
Pool have won just one in 12, and confidence will be low in the north east as they try to prevent an embarassing home defeat to lower league opposition here.
But boss Neale Cooper has seen his side lose four of their last five going into this game, and frankly, deep in the relegation zone, the home side have bigger worries than this competition.
Bradford started the campaign with a bang and have lost just one of their last four away from Valley Parade.
Just two defeats from their last eight suggests that Phil Parkinson's side have the quality to give their opponents a decent game here, and 14 goals scored in their last seven shows that in players such as Nakhi Wells and James Hanson, the Bantams possess a cutting edge in attack which has the potential to worry their opponents.
Bradford have won two of their last three away games in this competition, and that will give them confidence as they travel north this evening.
Bet 2: Bradford (AWAY) @ 3.259/4
