FTM are backing Gabrial's Gift at Wolves
Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Ayr, Wolverhampton and Sedgefield.
We start at Ayr where Alexandrakollontai has been on the drift all morning in the 7f Nursery at 14:10, now out to 4.3100/30 from an early 2.89n/a. This filly has shown improved form of late, winning on the all-weather back in August and gaining a clear-cut success in heavy ground at Ayr last time out, and appears well-in running under a 6lb penalty. However, she steps up in trip to 7f today, a distance she has struggled over, and although she has shown testing conditions suit, the extra furlong may prove her undoing. With many of her rivals possibly open to more improvement, the market suggests this two-year-old could be worth taking on.
We go to Wolverhampton for our first positive where there has been a significant looking move for Gabrials Gift in the 7f Hcap at 15:30, having been supported from 28.027/1 all the way down to a current 8.27/1. The grey hasn't shown much form of late, being well beaten on his last couple of runs, and hasn't run since early August. However, he's shown up well on both his starts on the all-weather to date, having gained his sole success over a mile at Kempton and running well when finishing third there back in March. He makes his first appearance today since being switched to the Ian Williams yard. With the money down, the change of scenery could well see an improvement in form.
We move to Sedgefield for our last selection in the form of Goldan Jess, who has been well backed to take the 2m4f Hcap Hrd at 16:20, available at 2.6613/8 from a high of 3.55/2. This gelding was off the course for almost two years before returning with a couple of promising runs and then winning on his last two starts, the first on the flat and then over the jumps at Market Rasen last time out. That impressive victory was over similar trip and ground conditions to those he will encounter today and he has the chance to run off only a 3lb higher mark. Having already gained two wins on this undulating track and with trainer Phillip Kirby in fine form the eight-year-old has plenty going for him. The move indicates he can complete the hat-trick.
