We get underway in the 14:30 at Newbury, where the lightly-race Novirak is taken to continue his improvement and land a third career success. The four-year-old put up his best effort yet when winning at Epsom on his latest start, getting the better of The Bells of Peover by a neck, and there is no reason why he cannot continue to progress, for all that more is likely to be required under his penalty in order to triumph. Rawaki and Franciscan appeal as the biggest dangers, but Novirak is a confident selection to see them off .
The following race at Newbury is the scene of our second SmartPlay as Grandeur, trained by Jeremy Noseda, looks to have an excellent chance of notching a fourth success on just his ninth racecourse appearance. The three-year-old has made good strides this year, improving with each and every start, and did not enjoy the run of the race on his most recent outing at Windsor. Although only managing to finish third that day, the first two were allowed to dominate and Grandeur found himself caught on heels and not ideally placed, sticking to his task and shaping much better than the result would suggest. Boom And Bust is likely to give him most to think about, but Grandeur rates as Bet-of-The-Day material.
Switching your attention to this evening's all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton can pay dividend, as Right Result (19:00) looks a good bet to follow up his win over C&D 13 days ago. The three-year-old shed his maiden at this venue on his final start last season and he bounced right back to form, on his return to this track, when getting better of the re-opposing Willies Wonder by three-quarters of a length. He has been raised 2 lb in the weights for that success, which seems fair, and he can enter the winners' enclosure once more.
