Solario Stakes Result: Moon brings up Noseda brace

Fantastic Moon was Jeremy Noseda's second consecutive winner of the Solario Stakes

Fantastic Moon came with a dramatic late run to land the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown...

The Dalakhani colt was making just his second racecourse appearance after winning a Newmarket maiden last month, but had created a strong enough impression to warrant going off at just 3/1 quickly upped in grade.

Despite not settling early on in rear off an unsatisfactory pace, William Buick at no point seemed concerned for Fantastic Moon's chances and, once produced over a furlong out, his mount came home strongly, eventually collaring Godolphin's Tha'ir in the shadow of the post.

Tha'ir had been sent off the 9/4 joint-favourite, along with Master of War, who eventually finished another head back in third.

Fantastic Moon was providing trainer Jeremy Noseda with a second successive win in the Solario Stakes, following Talwar in 2011. That one has been rather disappointing since, but with Fantastic Moon having the pedigree to be both smart and suited by trips significantly in advance of the seven furlongs of the Solario, he can hopefully continue to go forward.
