Premier League Injuries: Sandro stepping up for Spurs

Sandro has really impressed for Spurs in Scott Parker's absence
Tim Krul, Wojciech Szczesny and Scott Parker will all be big misses for their clubs this weekend, however others will get the chance to impress in their absence...
Tim Krul - Newcastle v Norwich (Sunday, 15:00)
Newcastle's number one custodian sustained an elbow injury playing for Holland in the recent World Cup qualifiers, which the Dutchman irritated in the Magpies' Premier League fixture with Aston Villa. This is a big blow to the Magpies, who conceded two goals in Krul's absence on Monday against Everton, as Steve Harper was drafted in as a replacement. Krul only missed one game all season for the Toon in 2011/12 and kept a hugely impressive 15 clean sheets in the Premier League. With the continued absence of their skipper Fabricio Coloccini, Alan Pardew could really do without further disruption to his defensive unit.

Wojciech Szczesny - Man City v Arsenal (Sunday, 16:00, Sky Sports 1)
Arsenal's defence has been greatly lauded this season and rightly so, after conceding just one Premier League goal in four games. Troublingly for Arsene Wenger though, his Gunners side will be missing first choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny again as they travel to the Etihad for what is probably their biggest game of the season to date. The Pole sustained an ankle injury in Arsenal's 6-1 rout of Southampton and will now be out for around three weeks. With Lukasz Fabianski still missing, the Arsenal boss will once again have to rely upon the services of 24-year-old stopper Vito Mannone for this vital clash. Given the Italian's recent clean sheets against Liverpool and Stoke however - and Szczesny's hot potato act against Saints - this can be viewed as another chance for Mannone to shine.
Recommended Bet: Back the draw @ 4.1n/a
Scott Parker - Tottenham v QPR (Sunday, 16:00)
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas this week indicated that Scott Parker will be facing at least another month on the sidelines as he continues to suffer from an Achilles problem. England's combative midfielder has not featured for his club this season but was expected to make a return before the end of September. With Parker missing, one player who has flourished is Sandro. Largely a peripheral figure at White Hart Lane since his arrival, the Brazilian was the heartbeat of much of Spurs good work in the Londoners convincing win over Reading at the weekend.
Recommended Bet: Back Tottenham to keep a clean sheet @ 2.3811/8
