Genk are unbeaten at home this season and don't concede many
Jonno Turner provides some Europa League advice today, predicting victories for Genk and Liverpool...
Another winner last night made it four from six tips this week and we're aiming to build upon that form with another two good results today.
For starters, we're off to Belgium, as Genk welcome Hungarians Videoton to the Cristal Arena, looking to begin their Europa League campaign in style in Group G.
The hosts are unbeaten in six home games this season, with three clean sheets in four in front of their fans. That impressive feat is supplemented by a record of three home wins in four in this competition.
Progress past Swiss side Luzern in the last round will have made many sit up and take notice, and if Genk can carry their domestic form over, they could be a real force to be reckoned with, having assumed an early position of fourth.
Visitors Videoton have won just one of their last three domestically - but it is their away form in this competition which will worry manager Paulo Sousa most.
The Hungarians, once winners of an away leg at Real Madrid's Bernabeu during the UEFA Cup era, have only won one of their last six on the road in it, and I'm sure they would snap your hand off for a draw ahead of this encounter.
A shock shootout defeat of Trabzonspor helped Videoton into the group stage for the first time since its introduction and in fairness, their home form has been formidable, so they could mount a challenge for qualification if they pick up some victories on their own patch and the odd point away.
But I fancy Genk's momentum to pay dividends in this tie, which is why I'm backing the home win at 1.728/11.
Bet 1: Genk (HOME) to win @ 1.728/11
Shifting our attentions to Switzerland for our second tip now, Liverpool visit Young Boys looking to kickstart their season.
The Reds have come in for a bit of stick domestically after some, well, underwhelming Premier League performances, but most agree that they seem to be moving in the right direction, and actually, their away form isn't too bad.
Just one loss in four away from Anfield shows that Brendan Rodgers' side are solid on the road, and a 1-1 weekend draw at Sunderland isn't to be sniffed at.
Liverpool have lost just once in nine on their Europa League travels and will be well aware that, in a tough group such as this, points away from home are key to securing qualification.
In the bigger picture, the visitors have lost only one in 19 in this competition and face hosts who haven't won in two
The hosts have not won in their last two outings at the Stade de Suisse, and will be desperate to arrest that slump. But they did not look comfortable in their last Europa League tie - a 2-0 defeat to Midtjylland - and I think that they could struggle against the quality of their guests this evening.
They're currently fifth in the Swiss Super League following a disappointing start and - with the exception Raul Bobadilla - the forwards haven't been in great form.
Much of their attacking threat actually comes from midfield, with Swedish playmaker Alexander Farnerud pulling the strings from the middle and hitting six goals so far.
But Rodgers has an abundance of closing midfielders, and I feel that he will be well equipped to nullify that threat, giving me confidence that the visitors can nick a much-needed three points here.
Bet 2: Liverpool (AWAY) to win @ 2.6213/8
