New Hampshire is proving popular at Newmarket today
Today's Follow The Money selections come from the afternoon meetings at Catterick and Newmarket...
We start at Newmarket where in the 14:10 sales race there has been a drift on Graphic Guest for Mick Channon from 2.21n/a out to 3.02/1. It doesn't appear the best race ever and she sets a clear standard on form but these sales races tend to throw up one or two strange results. The form of the other runners is certainly hard to truly establish a level for but there's been good money for Badr Al Badoor and Asgardella who are both lightly raced and with the selection having not raced on ground this quick she could be vulnerable.
We go to Catterick now for our first back where in the 15:40 September Cup Stakes Handicap there has been good support for New Hampshire who has been backed from 7.613/2 in to 5.14/1. Formerly with John Gosden he is now trained by Tony Coyle who has found improvement by stepping this front runner up in trip. He attempted to make all in a messy race at Doncaster last time and battled on really well until headed by a good one in Viking Storm. This much sharper track today should make it easier for him out in front and with it being a drop in class he should be able to find the frame at the very least.
Back to Newmarket now where in the 16:30 mile handicap there has been a good deal of support for Albaqaa from 12.6n/a in to 9.28/1. Incredibly all season he hasn't managed to find his ideal conditions of a big field over a mile on fast ground. Today however he does and races from a mark 11lbs lower than his peak, which was at the start of the year and furthermore 6lbs below his highest winning mark. He's shown a few signs over an inadequate 7 furlongs on his last two starts but back over a trip that is ideal he looks to have a big chance. He's entered in the Cambridgeshire next week also and needs a penalty to get in so he looks set to run a big race.
