Follow The Money: Back an Oscar win

Today's lay comes from Plumpton

Two backs and a lay from the meetings at Hamilton, Plumpton and Uttoxeter make up today's FTM picks

Starting at Plumpton and today's negative where in the 15:00, a two-mile Novice Hurdle, Once More Dubai has drifted from 2.68/5 to a current 3.3512/5. The three-year-old gelding makes his debut over obstacles on his first National Hunt start for trainer John Ferguson. The former Godolphin trained horse recorded six wins over his flat career amassing decent earnings. This shows that today's race may well be winnable on pedigree, but the lack of market confidence suggests that connections may have to wait to see a first win.

Moving to Uttoxeter for the 15:40, a two-mile five furlong Handicap Chase where Oscar Prairie has come in from 6.611/2 into 4.216/5. Warren Greatrex's seven-year-old gelding makes his first appearance this season and his first start over fences since December 2011. Although a proven success over hurdles his chasing record has one win to show from five attempts being pulled up in his last two outings. However, with a proven track record of recording wins on his seasonal reappearance and running off a decent handicap mark the market move could prove significant.

Finally to Hamilton and the 16:20 a six-furlong Handicap where Spinatrix has seen significant support moving from 7.413/2 into 4.77/2. Michael Dods' four-year-old filly has had an impressive season to date with two wins under her belt back in July. Having ran yesterday the trainer had stated depending on how she fared she may run again today. Recording a decent fourth place in the heavy ground in Ayr's competitive Silver Cup, today's contest looks an easier assignment, the market points to her recording her third win this season.
