Deadline Day: Spurs set to break the bank on Moutinho

Portugal star Joao Moutinho looks set to join Tottenham
Christian Crowther looks at the latest rumours and confirmed deals as the deadline rapidly approaches...
It has been reported in the last few hours that Tottenham have agreed a 22 million fee with Porto to bring in midfielder Joao Moutinho.
The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder played a starring role for his country at Euro 2012 and is now set to reunite with his former boss Andre Villas-Boas, who signed him for Porto from Sporting Lisbon.
It would appear that AVB is bringing Moutinho to Tottenham as a ready-made replacement for Luka Modric and is prepared to break the club's transfer record to get his man.
The move looks set to cap a remarkable day of trading for Spurs after Rafael van der Vaart left the club to join former club Hamburg for a reported 10 million, with the deal subject to a medical.
Also on the way out of the club is Mexican midfielder Giovani dos Santos after Real Mallorca revealed on their website that the player had agreed a four-year-deal with the La Liga club.
With Moussa Dembele arriving yesterday and Hugo Lloris in north London at present, AVB's newly assembled squad are nicely priced at 3.259/4 to make it into the top four again this season.
Elsewhere, Mancheste City have also been belatedly busy. The champions confirmed the much anticipated signing of Scott Sinclair from Swansea on a four-year deal for a fee of around 8 million with add-ons.
However, City are not done there, with Inter claiming that their right back Maicon has completed his move to the Etihad Stadium and Roberto Mancini also hoping to tie up deals for Fiorentina's highly-rated Serbian defender Matija Nastasic and Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia.
City were always expected to spend money before the window closed in order to keep up with big-spending rivals Chelsea, but it still remains unclear whether they have left some deals too late.
Chelsea are looking good value at 4.94/1 to win the league having witnessed their new signings hit the ground running to open an early lead over their rivals.
Meanwhile, the Clint Dempsey saga runs on with the American reportedly turning down a move to Aston Villa even though the clubs had agreed a fee of around 7 million for the forward.
It would appear that the Texan is holding out for a move to Anfield with Brendan Rodgers confirming in his press conference that he hopes one or two new faces will arrive by the end of the day.
Whether he as referring to Dempsey, Theo Walcott or Daniel Sturridge at this point is still unknown.
Other deals which are done include, Kieran Richardson signing for Fulham from Sunderland, Charlie Adam completing his move to Stoke, Jay Spearing going on loan to Bolton from Liverpool and Spurs' left back Danny Rose arriving at the Stadium of Light on a season's loan.
