Transfer Rumours for Friday 13th June - West Ham move for Lukaku?

The Daily Mirror are reporting that West Ham made a move for Romelu Lukaku that was rejected by Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas has signed so his appearances in the transfer rumour column seem to be over for now, but Romelu Lukaku might be the next name to be a repeated visitor...

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has been at the centre of plenty of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window with a return to the Premier League looking to be on the cards for the former Manchester City star.

However, reports from Italy and Tuttosport have suggested Ligue 1 big spenders Monaco are keen on bringing the Italy international to the Stade Louis II.

The talk coming out of Milan is that the Rossoneri would be willing to allow Balotelli to leave the San Siro this summer but they would be looking to bring Colombia striker Radamel Falcao in as part of any deal.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked but they might fall short of capturing Balotelli if Monaco can once again flex their financial muscle in the transfer market.

However, the Gunners might well be successful in securing a much cheaper option in the form of their former striker Carlos Vela.

According to The Sun, the Mexican international has a 3.5million buy-back clause in his contract with Real Sociedad and could be tempted by a return to the Emirates if manager Arsene Wenger guarantees him regular action in the first-team.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror has reported that West Ham United have had another ambitious bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku rejected by the Blues.

Having enjoyed loan spells with both West Bromwich Albion and Everton, West Ham have been hoping to lure the Belgian international across the capital to Upton Park.

However, a deal looks unlikely for the Hammers, with Blues manager Jose Mourinho stating Lukaku should be part of his plans in the Premier League next term.

Reports in a number of broadsheets today have claimed Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has ended his interest in Toni Kroos and will now focus his attentions on his Bayern Munich teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger.

United have been linked with Schweinsteiger in the past with previous managers Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes but Van Gaal is hoping to be the man to finally land the 29-year-old.

Schweinsteiger is currently with the German national side at the World Cup in Brazil and any deal would probably have to wait until after the tournament in South America.

The big question is whether Bayern would be willing to part company with the midfielder and if the player himself is looking to take on a new challenge in getting the Red Devils back in a position to challenge for the Premier League crown once again.
