World Cup Opta Stats: Brazil to give Mexico no gifts

Brazil have kept six clean sheets in their last eight encounters

Opta's insights indicate that Belgium and Brazil will keep clean sheets on Tuesday, but Russia and South Korea won't...

Belgium v Algeria

Match Odds: Belgium 1.4640/85, Algeria 8.88/1, The Draw 4.84/1

Algeria have failed to score in their last five World Cup games

Statistically, Belgium's unlikely attempt at world domination couldn't be afforded a more welcoming start than facing Algeria, who didn't score a single goal at the 2010 edition despite a fairly friendly draw (England, USA, Slovenia) and last struck in the competition against Northern Ireland in 1986.

Even before Belgium stumbled upon some of the best players on the planet, they were tricky to pick apart in World Cup first-round combat, going six such matches without defeat. With Marc Wilmots' side arriving in Brazil fresh from successive shutouts, silencing Algeria should be straightforward.

Recommended Bet: Back Belgium to keep a clean sheet @ 2.111/10

Brazil v Mexico

Live on BBC One

Match Odds: Brazil 1.321/3, Mexico 12.011/1, The Draw 6.05/1

Brazil have won their three previous World Cup meetings with Mexico by a combined score of 11-0

Mexico impressed in their Group A opener against Cameroon, shrugging off frustration at having two first-half goals wrongly disallowed to win the fixture all over again in the second half. However, it appears as though they have a major Brazil weakness when it comes to tournament football.

In addition to Opta noting that they have lost all three prior World Cup clashes with the five-time champions to nil, they flag up the fact that Mexico were beaten 0-2 by them at last summer's Confederations Cup in the very same Fortaleza venue where they will collide on Tuesday.

Recommended Bet: Back Brazil to win to nil @ 2.35/4

Russia v South Korea
Tuesday, 23:00
Live on BBC One

Match Odds: Russia 2.111/10, South Korea 4.1n/a, The Draw 3.55n/a

Russia have only kept one clean sheet in their last six World Cup games

What links South Korea to Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina and Spain? They are the only six nations to have participated at each of the last eight World Cups. They don't just make up the numbers when attending either, netting in all four of their matches in 2010 and 11 of their 14 this century.

Therefore, Russia can't be too confident of restraining them from the scoresheet, but Fabio Capello's team should have no trouble finding their own place there. They have notched in each of their last ten encounters - firing 21 times in total - and conquered South Korea 2-1 during that sequence.

Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 2.111/10
