World Cup 2014 Opta Stats: Why the following eight teams won't win the tournament

We've listed the reasons for our chosen octet to go deep in the competition and now it's time to crab those positives with the following stats of doom, courtesy of Opta...

Germany
Germany have reached at least the semi-finals in each of the last three World Cups and not won the competition.
Germany are 1.141/7 NOT to win the World Cup 

No nation has ever reached the last four in four consecutive World Cup tournaments.
You can lay Jogi Loew's side to reach the semi-finals at 2.285/4 

Spain
No team has retained the FIFA World Cup since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.
Spain are 6.411/2 to go out of the competition at the semi-final stage

The Spanish national team have won just two of their last nine World Cup games in South America, losing five (D2).
The Netherlands are 5.39/2 to pull off an upset in the opening Group B fixture 

France
None of the teams to qualify from UEFA kept fewer clean sheets in qualifying than France (4).
France can be layed at 1.261/4 to qualify from Group E 

Les Bleus have won just two of their previous six World Cup matches in South America, losing the other four.
Honduras are 12.5n/a to shock France in the opening Group E fixture

Belgium
Belgium lost both of their previous World Cup matches in South America (1930 Group Stages). They failed to score in both games.
You can lay Belgium to qualify from Group H at 1.211/5 

Only Kevin De Bruyne (eight) was involved in more goals during qualifying for Belgium than injured forward Christian Benteke (three; two goals and one assist).
Algeria are 8.88/1 to pull off an upset when they face Belgium in the opening clash of Group H 

Italy
Italy had two players sent off during qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. No European side that reached Brazil had more.
Cesare Prandelli's men are 15.014/1 in the Team with Most Cards market 

The Italians have won none of their last four matches at the World Cup (D3 L1).
A draw in Italy's opening fixture against England trades at 3.185/40 

England
England haven't won a World Cup finals match where the opposition have scored since beating Cameroon in 1990.
England are 2.915/8 to finish third in Group D

No European team has ever won a World Cup in South America or even in Central/North America for that matter.
The Three Lions are 4.03/1 to go out in the last-16 of the 2014 World Cup 

Portugal
Of the teams to qualify from UEFA, Portugal (11) conceded more goals during qualification than any other side.
Portugal are 2.915/8 to exit the World Cup at the group stage 

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 11 of Portugal's last 20 goals in all competitions.
Germany are 2.747/4 to blank Ronaldo and co. when the two meet on Monday June 16

Uruguay
Uruguay finished the South American qualifying campaign with a zero goal difference. Only three teams in the region conceded more goals than them (25) during the campaign.
The South American side are 3.259/4 to finish third in Group D 

64% of Uruguay's goals in qualifying (16 of 25) were netted by Luis Suarez (11) and Edinson Cavani (five). No other player scored more than two (excludes play-offs).
Costa Rica are 8.615/2 to beat Uruguay when the two meet on Saturday June 14
