Transfer Rumours for Monday 9th June

Is Rio to swap Manchester for the bright lights of London once again?

Rio Ferdinand is a big name involved in our transfer rumours today but Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas don't like being left out...

Diego Costa is busy preparing for the World Cup with Spain but the Atletico Madrid striker's club future is expected to be resolved soon, with the Brazil-born forward tipped to wrap up a 32million move to Chelsea in the next few days.

Chelsea are also close to landing another member of the Spain World Cup squad, with a 30m deal for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas inching ever closer.

The Times says Manchester United are set to listen to offers for 27.5m flop Marouane Fellaini this summer. New boss Loius van Gaal is thought to be prepared to offload the 26-year-old for just 15m, with former club Everton among those interested.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express claims United could turn their attention to Barcelona's Jordi Alba, instead of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw as they continue to be frustrated in their attempts to land the England defender for around 30m.

The Mirror says Arsenal have targeted Southampton right-back Calum Chambers as a possible replacement for Bacary Sagna, while Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has dismissed suggestions star man Lorenzo Insigne could be heading to the Emirates this summer.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been put on alert after Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic said he was preparing to leave the German champions after the World Cup because he does not suit coach Pep Guardiola's tactics.

Various reports in Spain claim Liverpool are finally close to completing a 16m deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, and he is expected on Merseyside this week to sign a five-year contract.

Aston Villa are set to step up their bid to sign Norwich's Wes Hoolahan, who they failed to land in January, when Roy Keane arrives as assistant manager, while Stoke, West Brom, West Ham and QPR are among several clubs interested in midfielder Steve Sidwell following his release by recently-relegated Fulham.

Free agent Jermaine Pennant has been targeted by Napoli coach Rafa Benitez. In what would be a shock move, the winger is apparently wanted by Benitez, who signed him when in charge of Liverpool in 2006, and is now after the 31-year-old again following his summer release from Stoke City.

Finally, The Guardian says newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers are considering making Manchester United central defender Rio Ferdinand, 35, the highest paid player at the club with a salary of up to 80,000 a week on offer as they attempt to beat a clutch of other Premier League clubs to his signature.
