Betfair Live Video: Red Bulls to take East Coast bragging rights

Coach Petke must decide whether or not to risk star man Thierry Henry... Coach Petke must decide whether or not to risk star man Thierry Henry...

This week Reuben Thomas focuses on the live MLS games brought to you by Betfair Live Video with two big rivalries on Sunday night before the extended break for the World Cup.

New England vs New York Red Bulls
Sunday 22:00

First up action from the Eastern Conference as reigning champions New England Red Bulls take the short trip up the East Coast to face leaders New England Revolution.

The classic sporting rivalry that exists between Boston and New York should ensure this is a hard fought contest.

After thirteen games Revolution are sitting pretty at the top of the East and Jay Heaps has his team in good form, before last week's somewhat surprising loss to Montreal they had won five in a row.

New England are a hard nut to crack at the Gillette Stadium, they enter Sunday's contest unbeaten on home turf in 20 matches against the Red Bulls and have won their last four in a row there.

The young strike pair of Patrick Mullins and Diego Fagundez have been reliable but the performances of midfielder Lee Nguyen have been the biggest surprise, he has five goals to his name already.

The Red Bulls look likely to be giving up their crown, down in seventh place they are struggling to even make the Finals series. Three losses and a draw in their last four spells trouble for coach Mike Petke.

This week they will face their toughest rival without a host of their key men. Tim Cahill and Roy Miller are en route to Brazil to represent Australia and Costa Rica. The turf surface in Foxborough means that Jamison Olave won't be risked and disappointingly it's likely Thierry Henry will also not be risked on the precarious surface.

Peguy Luyindula should return to boost the Bulls but the main goal scoring responsibility will be put on Bradley Wright-Phillips who has eleven to his name and leads the charts in the MLS.

Recommended Bets:
Back New England Revolution to win @ 2.111/10
Back both teams to score @ 1.715/7

Los Angeles vs Chivas USA
Monday 01:00

It's a West coast showdown and the only inner city rivalry in the MLS as Galaxy host Chivas USA in a Los Angeles derby.

After a disappointing start to the season Galaxy have picked up recently and have taken seven points from their last three games. With four straight wins at the Stubhub Center Bruce Arena's side look to climb the table and earn a finals place as they play host to bottom of the conference Chivas.

Robbie Keane and Landon Donavan provide real quality up front and with ten goals between them so far this season expect them to be the main danger again this weekend.

Chivas are enduring a horrible season, with just ten points from thirteen games they sit six points adrift at the bottom of the Western Conference.

With just one win recorded in the last twelve the season looks doomed for the 'Rojiblancos' but coach Wilmer Cabrera will hope that their fortunes can change if he can get more from star striker Erick 'Cubo' Cabrera, eight goals already in such an unproductive team has been a great effort and he should pose the most threat to Galaxy.

Due to Chivas possible relocation from Carlsbad this could be the last cross-town showdown, expect the hosts to take all three points.

Recommended Bets:
Back LA Galaxy to win @ 1.321/3
Back LA Galaxy to win both halves @ 2.6613/8
