Can Real Zaragoza finish the season on a high?
It's Spanish Segunda Division action for Paul Robinson today as he feels that Zaragoza can avoid defeat at Alcorcon.
Alcorcon v Zaragoza
Sunday June 8, 17:15 BST
Alcorcon missed out on promotion in the play-offs last season and they haven't been able to build on that this year as the highest they can finish is ninth. A terrible start cost them as they lost six of their opening dozen fixtures, and it's only been in the last couple of months that they've shown better form - six wins from their previous nine outings.
There is no denying their recent good performances at home as Jos Bordals' side have won their last five games at Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo. Prior to that though it was 11 without victory as they managed to score just four goals - firing an incredible eight blanks.
Zaragoza were relegated from La Liga last term after finishing rock bottom. They haven't been able to bounce straight back as with just one game to go, they are down in 14th place with 11th realistically being the highest they can climb to.
Vctor Muoz's men were in with a shout of the top six at the beginning of the year but a 2-0 defeat against Barcelona II began a run of nine without a win - five losses and four draws. 'Los Blanquillos' have seemingly put that behind them of late as they've lost just two of their last 10, but it's too little too late in terms of promotion.
This is an end of season clash with little on the line. The hosts are in decent heart but Zaragoza are a tough team to beat. All things considered, with Alcorcon trading at around the 1.991/1 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
