Searchlight shaped like a sure-fire future winner when finishing second on his racecourse debut at Ripon and he returns to the same venue with excellent claims in the opener at 14:00. Strong in the market, Kevin Ryan's two-year-old travelled well throughout much of the contest and stuck to his task well inside the final furlong, simply finding a rival from a top stable too strong on the day. The pair finished clear of the rest (an admittedly ordinary bunch on paper) and there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from Searchlight's effort. Any improvement should ensure that Searchlight will be difficult to beat. 

The Michael Bell-trained Winslow Arizona justified strong market support to get off the mark at Kempton a fortnight ago and may be capable of following up in the 15:45 at Lingfield. Winslow Arizona had been well backed prior to his nursery debut at Yarmouth in October, but he let his followers down, finishing in seventh. However, he put up an improved display on his return from a seven-month break at Kempton, seeing off another rival open to plenty of progress, the pair pulling well clear of the third. Winslow Arizona by no means looked the finished article on that occasion, wandering slightly under pressure, and he is capable of improving further with experience.

Estiqaama will have to prove that she is as effective on a fast surface at Yarmouth this evening (18:25) but she starts out in handicaps on a fair mark and ought to go close. Estiqaama is certainly bred to better than a 70-rated filly, also possessing the looks of a useful filly to go with her pedigree, and she is capable of showing much improved form as a three-year-old. There was certainly some promise on her second of three starts as a juvenile, finishing second at Salisbury, and she is of obvious interest from this sort of mark.
