14:30- Coach House impressed when taking another step forward to win the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh and he sets the standard in the Norfolk Stakes. Described as a lengthy colt with scope, Coach House remains open to further improvement and it would be a surprise were he not a major player. He is no banker, though, with so many unexposed rivals in opposition and we will also include the Richard Fahey-trained Eccleston. Fahey went close with a couple of two-year-olds on the opening day of the meeting and Eccleston, an impressive debut winner at Doncater, looks like one of the better juveniles he has brought out so far.
15:05- Alive Alive Oh is sure to be popular and she is by far the likeliest winner; however, she is likely to command a fair proportion of the 'pot' and it could be worth taking her on in the most competitive race she has contested so far. Khalid Abdullah owns two extremely interesting fillies in Winsili and Riposte and those are the two we will rely on. Winsili was well positioned and quickened impressively to beat Cruck Realta and The Lark on her seasonal return at Newbury, and that form has been subsequently boosted by the exploits of those in behind. She tackles one and a half miles for the first time and looks sure to go close if seeing out the trip. Riposte has only won a maiden but she took that contest in extremely impressive fashion, travelling strongly on the bridle throughout, and as a half-sister to the high-class Powerscourt she is entitled to plenty of respect.
15:45- Estimate appeals as the most solid proposition in the Gold Cup and is the first horse we turn to in the Placepot. She needs to improve to match the level of form set by her rivals, but she possesses a progressive, lightly-raced profile and looks sure to relish the two-and-a-half mile trip being a half-sister to the Gold Cup-winning Enzeli. Biographer is another that may not have quite reached his peak yet and he shaped with real promise carrying top weight in a strong Newmarket handicap on his return. He could appreciate this stiffer test and is worth including.
16:25- Wentworth is almost certainly a well-handicapped horse and should prove more effective back at a mile, even acknowledging he should have won on his return over six furlongs at Goodwood. His eye-catching effort hasn't been missed by many, though, and with a big field and a draw under the stand rail that could lead to traffic problems he is worth taking on. Cape Peron is the other horse in the race with obvious potential to make an impact at pattern level and the turn of foot he showed at Doncaster on handicap debut was striking. A strongly-run mile should enable Cape Peron to utilise his high cruising speed and he looks likely to go well. We will also add Market Town as he is an unexposed, lightly-raced type that was narrowly touched off on handicap debut and should be finishing well from the rear.
17:00- Remote is obviously a horse of tremendous potential and deserves to be favourite but this is an extremely competitive race and the instinct is to take him on in the hope of a result. Widely described as substandard prior to the event, the Dante now looks like a solid piece of form and, at today's prices, Windhoek could offer a bit of value. He ran creditably in the Dante and had impressed when twice winning on the Rowley Mile. He should go well again. Elkaayed has progressed with racing and comes into this contest on a sharp upward curve, creating a fantastic impression on his latest start at Doncaster. He can make his mark at this level.
17:35- Bold Sniper is entitled to respect but a wide draw complicates things slightly and he faces some interesting rivals who will be carrying fewer lines. Pether's Moon is the horse that instantly stands out, looking unlucky not to win a red-hot handicap at Salisbury last time. The step up to one and a half miles should be in his favour and a bold show is expected with Richard Hughes back in the saddle. Number One London has yet to win a race but he has competed in some very strong maidens and the way he shaped on handicap debut at Newmarket last time offers hope that he will prove effective over this longer trip.
