Timeform Notebook: It's Integral you side with this filly

Stoute has another good prospect on his hands.

In the latest edition of the Timeform Notebook, we draw attention to a three-year-old filly who made a highly-impressive debut at Goodwood...

Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore may have been out of luck on Friday with Liber Nauticus, but Moore's decision to head to Goodwood for one ride paid dividends as he partnered Integral to an impressive success on her racecourse debut.

The second foal of the smart Echelon, Integral certainly caught the eye on paper. However, there were representatives from other top yards in opposition and Sir Henry Cecil's filly Magic of Reality - whose form had been boosted in no uncertain terms by the victory of Talent in the Oaks - was sent off as the well-supported market leader at 11/10. Integral was sent off as a 4/1 shot, double what she had been trading in the morning.

There wasn't much pace in the race, and it is true to say that Integral was well positioned to strike, sitting on the heels of the leaders. However, the turn of foot she delivered when asked to quicken inside the final two furlongs was impressive, the race effectively over as a contest as she bounded a couple of lengths clear without having to be asked for maximum effort. Magic of Reality, who was dropping back from ten furlongs, stayed on well but never looked like bridging the gap.

Integral clearly benefitted from a good tactical ride but there is little doubt that she is a good prospect and is certainly in the right hands to fulfil her potential, trained by Sir Michael Stoute. It will be interesting to see where Integral is aimed at from here but she already looks ready to compete at a higher level.

Put up as a potential Queens Vase horse following an encouraging reappearance effort in a race that has worked out extremely well, David Wachman aimed Galileo Rock at the Derby and his decision was fully vindicated as the colt finished third.

Galileo Rock has improved with every step up in trip and Saturday's performance was his best yet. He was undoubtedly well positioned given the way the race unfolded, but considering his stamina-laden pedigree, a stronger pace may have seen him to even better effect. He looks like an ideal type for the St Leger and will continue to improve as his stamina is drawn out.

Jamaican Bolt - Of interest in five-furlong handicaps with cut in the ground.
Mombasa - Of interest in handicaps, particularly if stepped up to one and a half miles.
Loving Spirit - One to note in seven furlong or one-mile handicaps.
Border Legend - Remains unexposed and one to bear in mind for handicaps.
Galileo Rock - A strong stayer who can make an impact at Group level when the emphasis is on stamina.
Pether's Moon - An unexposed, progressive three-year-old that started life in handicaps on a good mark.
Salford Red Devil - Plenty of promise on debut and well up to winning a maiden.
Cape Peron - Ultra-progressive three-year-old that already looks like a group-class performer
Polar Venture - An unexposed, well-handicapped sprinter capable of better
Integral - Impressive winner of only start open to plenty of improvement
