Warwickshire Oaks: Timeform's runner-by-runner guide

John Gosden can win the Warwickshire Oaks with Gallipot

Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide to the Warwickshire Oaks...

Gallipot is a well-bred filly who landed a brace of 11f handicaps at Kempton before taking 1m listed race at Newmarket in 2012. Likely to be better for return run at Newbury last month, and should be in mix here.

Bridle Belle was successful at York and Newmarket towards end of 2012 and, fitter for reappearance, back to best when fourth in 1m handicap at former track last month. This looks much tougher, though.

Dark Orchid won twice for Andre Fabre early last year before running her best race when fourth in Deauville Group 2, and has acted as pacemaker both outings at Meydan this time around. Worth considering.

La Arenosa was a useful performer in France for Andre Fabre last year, winning listed 1m race at Le Lion-d'Angers and just touched off in Group 3 final start. May improve further for new yard.

Rhagori won handicaps at Bath and Sandown last August, and returned to winning ways in 5-runner 1m Lingfield (AW) event last month, but will need to improve again to take a hand here.

Saint Hilary produced much her best effort in maidens when winning at Leicester a year ago. Well held in listed events both starts since, though, and likely to be found wanting again here.

Shirocco Star was second in Oaks/Irish Oaks last term and has posted several good efforts in defeat since, but she disappointed in 9f Dahlia Stakes on reappearance, and her prolonged winless sequence is a concern.

Signora Frasi's last win came in November 2011 and propensity to race lazily often her undoing. Largely below form in AW handicaps this year, and way out of her depth in this company.

Sound Hearts was progressive throughout her debut season last term, winning pair of handicaps and excellent third in listed race at Newmarket, and respectable effort in 1m York event on last month's return.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Gallipot
2. Shirocco Star
3. Dark Orchid

Timeform View: Shirocco Star has easily the best form on show and now drops into listed class, but she only has a 2011 Newbury maiden success to her name and may have to make do with minor honours again if Gallipot picks up the progressive profile she showed last term with a recent return behind her.
