Royal Ascot Going Report: Ground remains Good for day two

The Royal Hunt Cup is one of the biggest Handicaps of the year

The sun is set to shine at Ascot today and that means that the current description of Good ground could ride faster as the afternoon progresses on day two of the Royal meeting...

Racecourse: Ascot
First Race Time: 14:30
Going: Good
Other Information: Dry overnight

The second day of the Royal meeting is set to bask in sunshine with temperatures expected to reach a high of 25 degrees by early afternoon, meaning the current groud description of Good could turn to Good, Good to Firm in places by the time of the first race according to Ascot officials.

The action commences at 14:30 with the Group 3 Jersey Stakes where Richard Fahey's Garswood (6.411/2) will bid to put a disappointing run in the 2000 Guineas behind him.

The Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes gets underway at 15:05, before the gates open for the feature race of the day - the Prince Of Wales's Stakes - at 15:45.

Last year's Derby winner Camelot (4.1n/a) is out to avenge a recent defeat to Roger Charlton's much improved Al Kazeem (3.45n/a) in the Group 1 contest.

The ultra-competitive Royal Hunt Cup is the fourth race on the card - Andrew Balding's Stirring Ballad currently heads the market at 11.010/1 and will have 29 rivals to beat over the straight 1m journey.

Wednesday's card closes with the 5f Queen Mary Stakes at 17:00 and the 1m Sandringham Handicap at 17:35.
