Today's three SmartPlays run at Epsom

Amanda Perrett has her string in sensational form at the moment and she can send out Blue Surf to win the second race on the Epsom card (14:10). Blue Surf was a progressive handicapper last term, winning on three occasions, including a competitive event at Newbury on his penultimate start, and there is little reason to suspect he won't be capable of showing further improvement this year, particularly with his yard in such blistering form. A strongly-run ten furlongs on ground with a bit of give looks ideal for Blue Surf and he show give a really good account on his seasonal reappearance.

As ever, there are plenty of progressive fillies on show in the Oaks (16:00) but we feel that Secret Gesture, a wide-margin winner of the Lingfield Oaks Trial, should be supported to land the feature race of the day. Ralph Beckett saddled Look Here to win the Oaks in 2008 and it would appear that he has another very talented filly on his hands in the shape of Secret Gesture. The daughter of Galileo created a good impression on both starts as a juvenile and she made a stunning reappearance at Lingfield, routing her rivals with consummate ease. That effort just about sets the standard here and she is still open to plenty of improvement.

Marco Botti's Hasopop and the Andrew Balding-trained Here Comes When deservedly head the market for the seven-furlong Surrey Stakes (16:45), but it is Andrew Balding's runner who offers the greatest value. Here Comes When and Hasopop clashed in a strong Newbury handicap with the former faring best, finishing second two lengths clear of Hasopop, albeit receiving plenty of weight. Both horses have subsequently shown improved form to land competitive handicaps, but it is the lightly-raced Here Comes When who may be open to the most progress and can come out on top.
