Gordon Elliott: The views on my two runners at Perth this afternoon

Gordon and Jason Maguire team up at Perth today

Gordon Elliott sends two very interesting runners across the Irish Sea on Sunday, in search of their share of the good prize money on offer at Perth. Read the Betfair Ambassador's exclusive views on his two runners here...

16.30 Perth - Nedzers Return

He's been in fantastic form between the flags recently, and this is his first run under rules since running in the Kerry national at Listowel in September 2010, so we are looking forward to this race as we have always held him in high regard as a chaser. He's an 11-yearold now and he's getting no younger so we thought we'd strike while the iron is hot and while he's in such good form at home and over fences in general. He won a good point to point at Inchydoney a couple of weeks back with this race being his target now for a while.

This looks like an extremely competitive handicap chase today, and with such a good pot up for grabs and his good record here we thought we'd travel over with him and see how we get on. We have a good strike rate at the track (27% in the last five seasons) and he is a three times winner here in the past, twice over fences and once over hurdles. He will appreciate the bit of good ground over a trip of three miles that is ideal for him, and with Jason Maguire booked to take the ride I'd be quite hopeful that he could pick up some of the generous prize money on offer here this afternoon.

17.00 Perth - Knocklayde Vic

The three miles at Punchestown on good to yielding ground last time might just have taken its toll on him come the business end of that particular race. He was travelling very well up until three out and then he couldn't go on, so we think the drop back to 2m4f here today, along with the better ground will suit him a lot better. He was trained by Ian Williams in the UK prior to coming back over here, so he is well used to travelling and I can't see that having a negative effect on him.

His last win came off an OR of 95, and he has gone up 7lbs since then to a mark of 102 but from what he has shown in his last couple of outings he could well be up to defying that mark if he gets a bit of luck and hurdles like we know he can. Jason Maguire takes the ride on this horse for us as well here today, and he is a jockey that we use when we can when we make the trip over to the UK and his experience around here (27% strike rate in the last 5 seasons) is worth its weight in gold when it comes to race riding and he is a good man to have on your side. This horse holds a solid each way chance if things go his way this afternoon.
